Lots of love for the Adizero line in general and the Adios in particular... makes me even madder that they don't offer a size 14 :-(

You got another vote for those beasts of a shoe
Nike Pegasus. I do run and race in them.
Champion Gusto.
Cheap, good fit and fantastic responsive ride. Very light too.
That's the Gusto performance cross trainer actually. Not the Gusto running shoe.
Pegasus Turbo. Feels great at all paces. Doesn't have that racing feel but I'd deal with it. Boston boost would be my other choice.
I'd go for the escalante. Lightweight, I've done everything from long runs to short sprints in them, and they feel great on me. Even did road races that felt better than any other race.
Hey thejeff, I am with you on the Saucony Freedom ISO. I have used them for every type of training run. I do find them a little heavy for racing, but I have done 18-19 training mile runs in them and they held up fine, so they could be fine for the half/full.
Never took out the insole or topsole, so maybe that is the trick to make them suitable for racing feel and weight. What do you think is the best combo for racing in the Freedom?

I will grant that you at least got me to google them. Actually available in a 14 wide... $30... if they were on RW, I'd prolly give them a try :-)
Crocs, of course!

Why not just get them from that source?

I second the zoom fly, however it is NOT a minimalist shoe.
I agree w zoomzoom... Burnnike, what did you mean by the "minimalist" comment?
I should have said I like lighter shoes where as some people would prefer more trainer types that can be used for fast runs. I prefer flat types that can be used for long runs.

By far, I prefer taking out the insole and racing on just the Everrun topsole (the topsole is glued in, but technically removable). That is actually my preferred way to wear the Freedom, period. The Everrun topsole is plenty soft to substitute for a normal insole, but it gives way more energy return than a normal insole. Plus, something about the texture of it really keeps your foot in place better than a regular insole.
I actually set both my 5k and 13.1 PRs this past season wearing the Freedoms this way (although I believe I could have run faster if I had owned my Skechers GoMeb Speed 5 at that point... and fwiw, I took the insole out of my SGMS5s and replaced it with the Freedom's Everrun topsole for a workout recently and LOVED it... that will be my next race setup.)
Absolutely the Altra Escalante Racer. I've used it for pretty much everything and it does really well in any road running situation. On trails they kind of suck though.

RW = free 2-day shipping and free returns. Payless might, also... just comfortable w RW :-)
Now get off my lawn.

Don't the ZFs have a 10mm drop?
Sorry, I feel like I am bustin' your chops... not my intention :-)

Three Stripes have the three best "one shoe for all" options.
Takumi Sens for one shoe for the minimalist crowd.
Adios hits the perfect sweet spot for the fleet guys
Boston, best all around shoe, period.
Hoka Clifton

The Takumi Sen was nice but felt clunkier than I thought it would. Certainly far from a minimalist shoe.
The Mizuno Ekiden would be a better choice.
really nobody has said the kinvara??
lightweight and fast, enough stuff under foot for long runs as long as you ease into it... super cheap online and fits like a slipper. these aren't my favorite trainers but if i could only pick 1, these are the way to go imo
