Since all the times are pretty slow and the course apparently wasn't was not hard, was the weather a huge factor? I have to imagine it's pretty hot in Nevada no?

B-R-A-V-O!
I'm sure the football team is grateful for whatever is keeping these girls around the fieldhouse.

No they are not on athletic scholarship.
You guys are too stupid to do your research. Theses are mostly 800m runners. Their top finisher just transferred from NAIA and is a 2:08/09 girl. The third runner for them perteete I think is her last name, yeah she was the fastest 800m freshman In the NCAA last year running 2:01x. Get y’all facts straight before you come on here talking smack.

Who cares their track event: in the Fall they do ONE event: Cross Country
FACTS:
1. UNLV was crushed by a lesser team
2. UNLV placed NINTH at their 2017 conference XC championship
One of thee only teams who fared worse was San Diego State who couldn't even find 5 girls on campus to field a complete team for a team score!
Way to go women only programs!!
Who knows. One guys said it wasn't a slow course, that doesn't mean it wasn't. It's XC. Maybe the course wasn't accurate, maybe it was muddy, whatever. Girl that won has a 5K PR of 16:59 collegiately, so her winning time was pretty slow compared to that.

Yes but the scholarships, if they have them, are clearly for track and they're only running cross country to count as another roster spot for Title IX purposes.

It's Cross Country season, so they're a Cross Country team. They are not a track team running a Cross Country race.

....You must be the loser who started the thread about the 30 year old single white guy being shunned by their former single bros.
Guess what? As much as you think it's important to point out that your opinion that women are slow and don't deserve their collegiate athletic careers, it will never overcome the fact that your 1447th ranking at xc 8k is not justification for eliminating women's sport.

even if it is a 100 degrees it won't slow you down that much for 5 k cross-different stort for say a 10000m on the track-hard to justify those times for women's D1 cross unless the course is unusually rugged....

You guys continue to prove me right about your level of intelligence. My post had nothing to do with their awful xc performance. It was to rebuttal the poster who said these girls weren’t on athletic scholarship. I’m pretty sure a 2:01 800m girl is on an athletic scholarship.

Their top finisher transferred from NJCAA, not NAIA.

Alaska Anchorage's roster is typically filled with Kenyan born runners. Nothing new here. They were doing it before it was cool.
I thought Anchorage, Alaska has been cool since the ice age?
This is because D1 runners are big babies

UNLV lost to Div. II Alaska Anchorage at its home invite. UAA defeated UNLV 26-57 and UAA had the top two women in the race.
In the article on its athletic's website, UNLV doesn't even mention that they lost to UAA but noted that they won the D I title. They even gave themselves a trophy (for finishing second in a meet that only had six teams).
Thankfully the NCAA changed the rules and new this year the results can not be separated by division.

I think it is funny that the fact that they put a positive spin in their own article was more upsetting to you than the fact the SID thinks cross country races are scored by total team time instead of points.
