A big aspect for proclaiming Kip the GOAT that no one has mentioned is CONSISTENCY. He has been winning marathons and running fast times in the marathon since 2013. He lost one marathon and it took a WR to beat him (only his second marathon and he PRed). Why are people impressed that Bekele got the distance right like 1 or two times when Kipchoge has shown consistent success that is absolutely unparalleled at the hardest distance (and now the most competitive) in athletics.
He’s damned consistent at marathon, yes. He’s the undisputed marathon GOAT. But ....
... save for Paris 5k, which while it is a godly victory over El G and Bekele, don’t get me wrong, but I believe this is given too much weight in this discussion regarding his track prowess. (There’s no point really digging into Kipchoge’s WXC when Bekele so thoroughly trounced everyone forever. I seem to recall seeing him shut it completely down in the home stretch, losing places, before practically staggering across crossing the line one particularly brutal year...) He’s never been an “also-ran” by any measure but he’s not Bekele or even Geb. I wish TrackBot could compare Kipchoge and Sihine on the track just for fun...

Mo Farah is in not anywhere near GOAT discussion. He’s probably in the pantheon of greats but not taking any medals. The scalps he’s taken are trivial. His non-1500 and HM PRs are trivial. He barely beat fvckin Chelimo in Rio... He would have been embarrassed in the uber-Ethio exhibition 5k this year. He’d be off the back but probably PR thus sealing all the misplaced speculation about his underachievements in time trials. Show me where Mo’s ever mixed it up in a HARD RACE. He doesn’t have the grit. End of story.

@ the troll LARPing on about the importance of road championships you’re either clueless about the significance of these events or intentionally taking a delusional position, which is fine. Doesn’t Kamworororeo have a number of these titles lol? But it is what it is...
