Anyone got any good advice regarding recovery from shinsplints? My wife has been having troubles, and I have nothing to tell her as I've never had them.
She's working toward a fall marathon, and a couple of weeks ago upped her weekly mileage to about 25 miles, with a long run of about 9.5. After four consecutive days of running (this seems to be the trigger for her - any more than three days in a row), her shins became very painful. It's taken more than a week to recover to the point where she could put in five miles yesterday, and her shins were sore again afterward.
Any good stretches or strengthening exercises to help her recover and/or avoid future problems?
