If the conditions are truly to be 80+ and humid, Kipchoge will lose.
Making my prediction 2 years early.

Who do these brutal conditions suit more, then?
You’re 2 years late.
He already won the Olymlic marathon.
Extreme conditions could be an equalizer and open the way for an upset but Kipchoge would still be the heavy favorite.

Father time has to catch up eventually, but for now he seems to be waiting. I am curious to see how he'd do in those conditions though. It would not be surprising to lose. See Kipsang in 2012. He was pretty much invincible at the time and ended up getting it wrong that day.

Yeah, it was not like it was hot in Rio...
With Father Time and age, it’s likely he won’t finish Tokyo within 3 minutes of his Berlin time. LMAO

Ummmm ever heard of Galen Rupp?
Wouldn't surprise me if somehow Athletics Kenya messes this up and leaves him off the team...

So he'll only break Wanjiru's Olympic Record by a minute or so?

Do you mean Yuta? Yuki is finished. He's been at this too long.
Kipchoge is not a fool. He does not run recklessly. When it comes to World championships or Olympics, he runs to win and not to chase times. The same way he did in Rio. In London this year, he showed ability to withstand heat and still find a way to win. In Berlin last year, he showed ability to withstand rain and still find a way to win. Maybe extreme cold like we had in Boston this year can stop him. We do not know since he has not raced under such conditions.

You do know temperatures at the start at Rio were 75 degrees?
You’re basically saying, he’s always proved to be the best in hot conditions, but, if it’s hot again, he will lose.

You’re autistic
I don’t think that another Olympic gold is in any way a priority for Kipchoge (after all he’s a Kenyan, not an American). Nevertheless, he is in such a caliber that he can literally toy with any runner in the world racing a marathon with him, especially in hot weather
Freezing cold Boston the same? wrote:

Yuki will not make the Japanese team.
Kipchoge is so far better than anyone else (at least right now) that he can back off a little and still win the Olympic Marathon -- unless he is really horrible in heat or his performance level drops in the next two years.
Anyone who criticizes a man who runs a 2:01:39 marathon needs to be slapped. No one is remotely close to what this man has done. Anyone that can run 4:38 per mile for 26.2 miles can run great in any conditions which Kipchoge has. A bunch of joggers on here dissing the greatest marathoner of all time, by far. Sad.
