2:37.7/km is world record pace in the 10000m. 5000m wr pace is about 2:31.5/km.
He just did 15x1k at altitude in low 2:50s with the last two in 2:42/2:37. He would have to train specifically for the 10,
but I think that he would stand a good chance of doing it.
One time I closed 10x400 on a hot day in 65. This means I could run 4:20 in the mile, with some specific training, right?

I hope he'll be in good form to try for a repeat Olympic gold, which would place him with Bekele as the only other athlete to win repeats golds (and no, I've not forgotten about Cierpinski).?
Only other athlete? What about Farah, Bolt, Rudisha just in recent history....there are tons of others, too many to list.
Can you imagine where he could put that 50K record. I'll bet he could average well under 5 mi miles for the entire distance. He would put that record way way way out of reach. I bet he could break 85 minutes for the 30K.

After today's world record, what's next for Kipchoge? What mountain tops are left for the GOAT, do you think?
1) I hope he'll be in good form to try for a repeat Olympic gold, which would place him with Bekele as the only other athlete to win repeats golds (and no, I've not forgotten about Cierpinski).
2) I'd love to see him try to notch off Boston and New York. But is the money too good with London and Berlin?
3) He already has World Champ gold in the 5000, but there's always the marathon event there too.
4) Do you think he could step DOWN and try for the half-marathon world record?
What say you all?
Doesn't Boston and New York have better prize money than London and Berlin?
I read somewhere that it goes something like:
Dubai (USD $200k), Boston (USD $150k), New York (USD $130k)
I am not sure what his appearance fees are, but I am pretty sure any of them would pay over USD $100k to have Kipchoge in their race.
London and Berlin again in 2019 for the money - boring, I know, but he has nothing monetary to gain from going to the World Championship compared to repeating those to majors.
Tokyo WMM and Tokyo Olympics in 2020 - The first as a tune-up race and to get to know the town slash Nike personel he'd work with again later in the summer.
World Championship in Eugene in 2021, to cap off his career on Nike's home yard.
He most likely will keep running Berlin and London till the wheels fall off. Along with 2020 Tokyo. I could see a Sub 2 Nike attempt 2.0 if they throw enough money at him. He’d 33 so he knows there probably only a few more years of running fast. Also the lifestyle he lives has to catch up to him at some point. He probably wants to spend more time with his family and enjoy all the money he’s made. So I wouldn’t be surprised if he retires relatively soon.
I would like to see Kipchoge take on Kamworor at the 2019 IAAF World Cross Country Championships

1) RE: What are you talking about as Bekele being the only one to repeat golds? Haile had repeat golds (10k), Farah had 2 repeat golds (5k-10k), and Dibaba had repeat golds (10k). I'm surprised people didn't immediately correct you on that.
3) RE: The WC isn't anywhere near as prestigious as the Olympics. Why waste a year of marathon prize money for a race that won't pay much and isn't that prestigious?
4) RE: I like that idea, but I seriously doubt he cares that much about it.
Honestly, I don't know what he will do. What would I do? Keep winning. Maybe even try and lower the WR next year in Berlin again. The more he wins the more he solidifies his position as the GOAT for the future. Just keep winning.

You are all boring. He should get back on the track now, as has nothing left to do in the marathon. Sure he can win another marathon gold, but he is so high and far above the next 10 runners that it hardly would mean anything. I say get back on the track and run some 5k's and 10k's.
This isn't the worst idea honestly.

Why do people put "point zero" in front of things. I can't stand it. It literally started happening ever since Die Hard 4.0 came out. That was a load of crap.
