After today's world record, what's next for Kipchoge? What mountain tops are left for the GOAT, do you think?
1) I hope he'll be in good form to try for a repeat Olympic gold, which would place him with Bekele as the only other athlete to win repeats golds (and no, I've not forgotten about Cierpinski).
2) I'd love to see him try to notch off Boston and New York. But is the money too good with London and Berlin?
3) He already has World Champ gold in the 5000, but there's always the marathon event there too.
4) Do you think he could step DOWN and try for the half-marathon world record?
What say you all?

He should literally try to break the half marathon record, 30k record and 50k record.

It would be exciting if he were to gun for the half marathon record. -
Comrades and ultra marathons to end the eternal LRC debate.
-
Another Sub 2:00 attempt. With good weather and fresh pacers the entire way he can get it.
He closed at Sub 4:30 pace. He neg split. He can go sub 2:00.

Oh lordy, what kind of time do you suppose he could run at Comrades? Could he break 5 hours? -

He went through 30k in 1:26:45 today. I hope they had a timekeeper at that mark. -

But is Eliud willing to throw punches and race dirty? -
There are still some meaningful marathon (and other road distance) accomplishments out there for Kipchoge. Listed roughly in the orderof the accomplishments that would contribute he most to his legacy to the least:
-defend his Olympic Marathon title
-win all 5 original World Marathon Majors
-set the half marathon world record
-win all 6 current WMMs
-win the World Championship Marathon
-set some long roads off-distance records (15k, 10 miles, 20k, half marathon, 25k, 30k)
-win any newly-added WMMs (supposed to be three more in Asia in the next few years)
-win the Half Marathon World Championship
- be the first man two break two hours in aided conditions (another Breaking 2 set-up)
-try to further lower his current non-aided marathon WR -

I'd rather he run Boston or NYCM.
If he ran any downhill course with the right wind, he's under 2:00. If it's not certified for WR anyways, do what the BQers do, run downhill course. -

Boston could raise price by $20.00. $20 x 25,000 people pays the extra for Eliud Kipchoge's appearance fee. Worth it. $20 more will not deter Boston participants. Boston marathon could raise prices by $100 without affecting demand. -
Someone said he will run the HM in Erie.
-
HM would be exciting.
-
He should retire now - he doesn't need to do anything else. Maybe become a coach. Retiring now would cement his legndary status.
-
He should run around the world not for time but for a chance for average people to run with him. Nike could sponsor event to regain some credibility after the Kapernick fiasco.

You are all boring. He should get back on the track now, as has nothing left to do in the marathon. Sure he can win another marathon gold, but he is so high and far above the next 10 runners that it hardly would mean anything. I say get back on the track and run some 5k's and 10k's.

stay with the marathon and appear at as many races as he can.
Make the money while he is a hot name. -
Half-marathon record attempt?
I also wonder if he could run faster at 10,000m. I remember people like Radcliffe saying they got better at 10,000m after doing marathon training.
It's not going to be his top priority, but could aim to set another marathon record. It was an exceptional run, but it sounds like he could have had more help. I'm not sure how much difference that would make.
