Anyone has an idea why Kamworor doesn’t go for London or Berlin instead of going to a second class marathon like NY?

First, NYC is the biggest, and most lucrative marathon in America. It tops the likes of Boston and Chicago. Secondly it is one of the Marathon Majors. Compared to Berlin, NYC pays more. It pays more than London as well but London has time bonuses which encourages athletes to run faster to earn more. On top of a big pay that NYC offers, Kamworor is the defending champion and therefore NYC rightfully gave him the biggest appearance than any other marathon would.
On why he has not run London marathon, Kamworor still considers himself a cross country and track athlete. Next year he will be attempting to win World cross country championships for the third time. He will then run some diamond league races and try to qualify for a spot on the Kenyan team to the 2019 World championship. The marathon has never been his focus, at least not for now.
He is Kipchoge’s bitc$. Always pacing him on the Eldorat dirt track
If he considers himself still a track athlete, he wouldn’t be running a marathon year after year. Track and marathon are different training. The man has sub 59 half. He hasn’t raced this year in the diamond league and not last year in the WR on the track, so how exactly does he consider himself as a track athlete???
Stop wasting time on weak elite fields NY, and go with the big guns in London and Berlin already
Geoffrey is not that the best at the marathon and can't compete with the fastest over that distance. He beat a washed up Wilson at NYC last year. He can't win at 10k either. His sweet spot is the half marathon, and he probably knows it by now.
/ thread
I've read that NYC marathon doesn't give appearance fees to the defending winner in the salary guess thread.
BS?
...not good enough for those two races.
Silver in the world championships 10000m isn't too shabby is it? 26:52 and 12:59 are also quite good. The guy is just crazy good in whatever distance/terrain he chooses.
Triple half marathon champion, double xc champion, I mean that's quite the resume.
Because he likes to actually race, not time trial.

He has raced Berlin on multiple occasions early in his career. He never could pull out a win though. Why hasn't he went back? Idk. I don't think he is chasing WR times in the marathon just yet. That would be my guess.

I always thought that Berlin and a London were races, mmm... better tell Kipchoge that his 2:03:05 in London and 2:03:3x in Berlin were actually not races- probably it was easy for him since he didn’t race..

American standards-
Actually race= slow race that everybody sits and at the end comes a kick as though it’s a 100m dash
Time trial= a fast race where all kinds of Rupsters and slowmoes fall behind due to the fast pace, and the true runners get to race.
Kamworor has ran Berlin already, three times (2012, 2013, and 2014). Why not defend his title in new york?! He likes XC and the world champ half.. clearly he likes the competition more than going out at world record pace for the marathon.

^^^This. He already has run Berlin. Hello? He actually ran that first year that Kipchoge did, 2013, when Wilson Kipsang set the WR. Also, clearly Kipchoge is gonna take the top billing. He's gonna take second fiddle in place and $$$ if he enters the same race as his mentor. He won NY. He's gonna grab a giant payday for just showing up to defend his title. This is a no-brainer. I think if Kipchoge is out of the picture or begins to slip in fitness, then yes, I think this is a valid question. But at present state, not even discussion worthy.
Given the company he keeps, nothing wrong with wondering how fast Kam would be in a legit time trial.

Oh you must be one of those simpletons who is too fixated on the time on the clock ?
This. Kam has stated he wants to do track races, who knows why he hasn't been going. He also stated he wants to get the half marathon WR as well.
He could challenge Kipchoge if he wanted, but what's the point? Better to focus on his own goals first, let his teammate have the limelight for a few more years, then take his place.
