I saw an adult who looked very similar to the picture of a man who has been stealing bikes and breaking in homes this afternoon leaving the neighborhood on a big kid's mountain bike. I asked him to stop, and he pulled a U turn and rode off. I turned around, and he stopped. I asked him where he got the bike, and he said "___ you". He started walking towards me, and I showed him my gun. He stopped, turned around, and rode off again. I called the police and followed him into a cul de sac.
I showed the officer the picture. The officer asked him his name (he had no ID) and told him he could leave. She didn't even ask him any questions (other than his name). She was more upset that I confronted him than she was about someone repeatedly stealing from our neighborhood. She also told me that no police reports have been filed, and I inferred that she didn't believe me that multiple bikes have been stolen. (I found out later that a report HAD been filed two days earlier.) Needless to say, I am very disappointed with how the call was handled and will be filing a complaint tomorrow when the PD opens.
If you had a white and blue(black?) mountain bike stolen today, I sure am sorry.
I am Dead Serious. Be ever vigilant.
