This isn't the best thread topic, I understand. But, if you know or live in Washington state, I would really appreciate your input.
My wife and I are taking our first vacation without kids in 6 years. Obviously, we're going to Washington for the first week in September (tickets are bought). We are staying in a timeshare condo and have been on the waiting list to stay somewhere on/near the Olympic Peninsula. Unfortunately, this area seems very popular (all booked up for quite some time) and it is near the time to consider alternative plans.
One available place is located in the Chelan/Manson area (near the Mt. Baker National Park/Forest). This is about 4 hrs. East of the coast. So my questions are:
1.) Is this Mt. Baker area comparable to Olympic?
2.) My wife and I like to see (and will spend most of the trip doing so) the best running/hiking trails (w/ good views) that an area has to offer. What are the MUSTS of Washington?
3.) I guess if these are answered, then by default I get my #3 which is... Should we go for this Chelan/Manson resort?
I have to make the decision by Monday evening, so I guess I sort of need quick responses as well. I know I could look a lot of this up online, but I prefer to ask people (especially you all who have been on a trail or two and who run) who KNOW places firsthand. Thanks in advance.
