yes, his 10K time from last year is an A for helsinki. that's why this whole thing is farcical.

He will attempt to run both and then suffer a stress fracture. Yet again.
I'm guessing that Ritz really wants to run the 10K and will declare for just the 10K if they qualify him for both. The 5K is his safety event, in case they don't let him in with what, by the book, is not a legal qualifier.
So apparently his 27:38 isn't an A qualifer and there are no more fast 10k's before Helsinki from now on(unless he wants to run super fast in Usatf or somehow some small meet decides to do a 10k this summer). So it looks like even if he wins the 10k he may not get to Helsinki, for the 5k he should be able to get the qualifer easily this summer, but he has to worry about top 3 in trials and the other guys.
It seems like it would have been a whole lot easier if he just ran the Cardinal Invite or Hengelo 10k? I wonder what his strategy is for his meets, I wonder what his plans are?
Is there any thread that you don't spew stupidity? Ritz has his 10k A standard for World Championships. He does not have a standard for USATF's.
I thought the 27:38 wasn't in the qualifying window for Helsinki, what's the big deal?

ttc, what do you think about gouchers race? i remember the years of goucher bashing from you and always guaranteed he was done.
Yea, I'm in shock. Actually I just posted on the 'Goucher' thread and admitted as such. But I'll happily be wrong about something like that anytime. I hope he makes the world team.

So long as he or Torres wins the 5 at nats, or if the winner is someone else who runs the A standard, then they'll go. Winner with only a B time to his credit by the time the deadline for Helsinki comes will leave everyone else home. This is assuming Ritz gets into the 10 and runs only that and not the 5.
Sorry, add Broe to Goucher and Torres.

as i have said previously, this is where the lunacy lies. usatf's window is shorter than iaaf's window. absolutely absurd that someone who already has the qualifier to run at the world championships is being denied the opportunity to compete for that spot at the national championships.
Oh I see the situation now. He has Usatf 5k qualifer but not 10k qualifer. He has Helsinki 10k qualifier but not 5k qualifier, interesting.
Very quick on the uptake.
And if he doesn't get in ...
He WILL get in. The only question is whether it's going to be 5000 or 10000. It could get REAL interesting if Ritz doesn't get into the 10000, and the 10000 is won by somebody who doesn't have the A.
He'll get into the Usatf 10k with a petition slip. He'll finish the race(probably 1st or 2nd) and with his A qualifier(the only other person who has the A standard and will race is Abdi, who will win or get 2nd) will get to Helsinki.
If Ritz enters the 5k he'll be top 5 but probably won't win, he will have to also get the A standard. He's progressed, he can make 5k and 10k teams! Remember when we said he was the future, well he's here now

The qualifying period for Helsinki is longer than the period for USATF.

Here you go with a load of misinformation. Everytime I read one of your posts I (and everyone else) laugh at your stupidity. MEB HAS THE A STANDARD AS WELL AND WILL BE RUNNING IN THE RACE.
Who is Hudson?
If Ritz gets in for the 5K, perhaps he could also be let in for the 110 Hurdles!
