What is it with all the posters in this thread with bread in there names and is it literally one poster, there is Ezekiel, mango and papaya bread posters. What next, a guanabana bread poster? I'm new here but I can't wait to see Bekele destroy the field like he did in his most recent race in Bern. He will get the course record easy.

He won but 46:47 is not exactly world class time.
Btw, an interesting piece on Bekele is here:
http://www.runblogrun.com/2018/05/the-business-game-kenenisa-bekele-juggles-business-and-sport-by-steve-landells-nn-running-team.htmlIt's obvious. He's ducking Rupp at Chicago.

Banana Bread is the biggest Bekele fan here, so in memory of him we use kinds of breads in our name.
This is no surprise, I "predicted" something like this in another thread. It was not a good year for him, and he cannot afford to fail again in Berlin against Kipchoge, else he may find himself at home during the next Olympics.
I think he wants to run a solid race with no WR pressure on him. Something where a sub 2:05 will win it and keep his name out there.

Makes sense. And it would be great to see him run around 2:05 or better in an evenly paced race.
Rocky 13 or whatever? When Rocky is wearing the dumpy coat and hat that he wore in Rocky (1), for some reason that might have made sense to a writer but looked very, very stupid on the screen? Yeah, something like that.

I am disappointed that so many people seem happy to call him washed up. He ran the second fastest marathon of all time on limited training after five years of injury. He is the word record holder in the 5000 and 10,000. Where is the respect? Where is the empathy? I think almost everyone else would have quit by now had they gone through his injuries. Bekele is a fighter.....A warrior....A winner....A fierce competitor! No one who posts here on this website understands what it takes to do what he has done. Good luck Mr. Bekele in Amsterdam, and let God's grace be with you on race day!!!!!
Berlin 2016 feels like a long time ago. He's run 4 marathons since then. Dropping out of 2. Coming in 2nd and 6th in the others with times that were not impressive.
I'm always rooting for Bekele, but I've been disappointed 4x in a row. His being in his mid 30's might explain his apparent decline in the last 2 years. I hope I'm wrong.
But hey it could be worse, we could find out that he's doping, and having an affair with his friend's wife, and posting videos of it on facebook, and she attempts suicide and he blames her for the affair.
So at this point, I'll be happy as long as it never turns out that bekele is a drug cheat, adulterous a**hole.

can you make bread out of celery?
That’s almost how I feel although the 2nd and 6th places both come from London, if I recall it correctly. I always hope that the next marathon by Bekele will be a good one.-:)
Come on man, everyone can afford to fail against Kipchoge. In fact most of his opponents expect to fail. Ethiopia generally selects its team based on time.
The 2019/2020 Dubai Marathon most likely will decide the team.

By fail, what I mean is try to run WR pace and dropping out at 28 k or something like that. He cannot afford to show any more of those cracks in his armor. If he merely lost by a few seconds that's fine, but more realistically he'd drop out and that would devastate his chances for one last Olympics. Just refer to Geb's late 2010 and 2011 seasons when he was desperately scrambling to make London.
So, it will be tough to show something extraordinary for Bekele in Amsterdam after Kipchoge’s world record in Berlin and Farah’s impressive win in Chicago.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
