1500m is not Chelimo's distance. He was a 5k/10k guy in college and even posted videos of himself steepling on social media this year. Jakob is not as good a runner and being better at 1500 in an early season race does not make him objectively better, especially considering it wasn't very fast. Chelimo has two world/Olympics medals, Jakob couldn't even win the double world juniors. I respect the hell out of both of them but it is obvious who is better right now.
Jakob has 3:31 PB over 1500m and Chelimo has 3:39.
Jakob closed in 54 to 13:17 SB over 5000m and Chelimo closed in 55 to 13:09 SB
I think this year Chelimo could have still beat Jakob by a margin, but it is not happening next year. Jakob will outkick Chelimo in any scenario.
