Ivies suck, good point about Harvard - I wish I used a better example but I think you understand the point. But even in that situation, that does not mean they are not taking the absolute best from another country. Correct me if I’m wrong. What would be a better example, Cal?
As far as 9:15 guy developing into a 13:00 guy I do understand the point and I wasn’t saying to name someone who did. I am saying to name someone who would have if Kenyans were not allowed in the NCAA. 9:15 guys can get scholarships but it may not be their first choice.
But I am curious to know of a hypothetical example. Let’s say you eliminated all Kenyans in the NCAA (even typing that how wrong does it sound?) How many scholarships does that open up and at which schools? Do you think a 9:15 guy with 13:00 upside is going to choose Campbell or Middle Tenn? Maybe but I doubt it.
I’m having trouble thinking of the 9:15 guy that could not get a full scholarship anywhere based on how many scholarships we’re unavailable because they were allocated to Kenyan Student athletes who who didn’t run 13:00 because of this. If he gave up because he didn’t get a full scholarship it’s hard to believe he was going to have the fortitude to get there. If he fell short because he was working full time how close was he to 13:00? Could he have gone to another school and gotten a full scholarship and run 13:00? If he didn’t have to compete with Kenyans for scholarships would he have gotten that full scholarship over other non-Kenyan athletes and went on to 13:00? Sure I guess it’s possible but I’d be curious to know what prospect comes to mind.
Even if all that is true and there would have been 1 guy that would have run 13:00 if Kenyans were not in the NCAA does that make the discrimination ok?
It’s fair to point out flawed statements of mine
(Although if Harvard is still taking the VERY best from other countries this would be more comparable to an NCAA Team taking 28:20 type Kenyans but choosing an American 9:00 guy over a Kenyan who is good but not to the same degree as the 28:20 guy)
but can you really support those posting who are Anti Kenyans in the NCAA?
