Watched the 7/28 Edmonton ITU World Series, the U.S. did well in all of the events but didn't win any. There is a Men's, Women's and Mixed Relay; the USA finished 3rd in all 3. Like I said, we did well, but why can't we win these races. I am perplexed, we have the best swimmers in the world, the best runners outside of Africa and we are pretty decent in cycling...what is it that I don't understand. Btw, I finished 4th in my age group in a local tri with a Walmart bike and almost no specific training. This was my one and only triathlon. I came out of the water not far from last in my wave, I caught a few people on the bike and passed a ton of people on the run. My run split was faster than the guy that won my age group and was told by him, that I probably could have finished second if I simply had better transitions and bike clips for my pedals. I felt like a man against boys on the run. Why can't we take a few NCAA all-Americans in cross, who are unlikely to make a national team and train them for the tri?
