Your gait adapts the most efficient gait for you over time, not that it necessarily has to "look" mechanically smooth. Paula R has a similar tall and lanky body build and quirky mechanics.
Anyone can learn to tolerate the heat better through heat training regardless of height. Marathon predicts marathon. You can look at HM to marathon differentials and see who's really built and wired for the marathon and who tolerates/prepares the best for heat and hills.
Btw, I won the World titles, Comrades, and broke the 50 mile World Best in Lunaracers. I've been training and racing marathons and ultras in Lunaracers for years before the Vaporfly's, which are also super comfortable. Any athlete should wear the shoes that are most comfortable for them.
