Today the news broke in track and field circles that 400h phenom Sydney McLaughlin just signed with the Beverly Hills big-hitter talent agency William Morris Endeavor.
This means only one thing, the McLaughlin's mean business, heads are gonna roll, signing records are going down, and NIKE and Adidas are going to rethink the offers they've already put on the table.
WME represented Felix, and the William's sister but there's no record of them ever signing a young athlete fresh into the start of their pro careers. This means big things, not just for Sydney but for the sport of Track & Field in general.
Watch out world, there's a new Bolt in town.
I don’t think so.
Great if she signs a huge contract but practically no one outside of track knows who she is.
Though she is talented, good looking and nearing her athletic prime, I don’t think many people would care to see athletes running hurdles. Even if she broke the world record ever time she raced, I wouldn’t think there would be much interest from the public.
Maybe I’m old and don’t know enough about who watches track and field but I’ve never thought anyone cared about athletes, world records outside the marquee events in track... do people go to watch just field events?
