I thought someone ran 52 at age 60.
Maybe it was someone else besides him.

Ralph Romain was 58 when he ran 52.52
Ralph Romain set the M60-64 WR 53.88 at age 63
Seems like he would be on track for 58.0 at age 70 had he kept going.

I do not know what it age grades into, but I put on flats, get a rolling start, and can will myself to a 18 second 100......at 58 years old.
Age grades to 43.3
The faster you run as a youngster, the slower you run as an oldster.
I'm happy I never saved myself for 60 second 400s.

Masters running should be given at least as much coverage as the paralympics. Getting old happens to every one of us and these guys are an inspiration to us all. I'd like to see a Masters Olympics.
Would be so great to see the face of an ageist young punk like 'ex-runner' if a 70 year old like this dude came flying past him.
Here he is setting the American indoor 400m record a few months ago (60:52) :

Mate, nobody running 60 for 400m is flying past me any time soon.
Besides, I quit. Don't race shite meets for fun.

Would just be open to age cheating on the other extreme. Coevett will complain that Kenyans are cheating when they claim to be 50 but look 30 - same people who were 25 but claimed to be 18.
This, and you might as well bring in an anabolic steroid pharmaceutical company as the title sponsor.
I don't know about steroids but some of the old bucks I know in the masters club I belong to are doing the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). If you look around there are so many "low-T centers" cropping up everywhere in the U.S. So, I would say a lot of middle-agers, athletes or not, are probably going the TRT route...nothing to shocking there.
I wish you well, of course, but you wont improve with age. Crack 60 when you can. I'm 58 and slow as dirt now... Truly remarkable what this guy has done.

I'm struggling in my attempt to crack 60 in the 400m at age 48. This gives me hope to persist.
Well, a 70 year old can run a faster 400 than one of our current American record holders, Frerichs.
Good stuff! well done and as the next generations age more records will fall. Aussie 51 year old just ran 2:32 for marathon!

In fact there is one - the World Masters Games. They take place every four years and the most recent was in New Zealand last year. I went and it was a great experience. There is no entry standard and it was very good value. The entry fee included a two week transit pass, free access to all museums and zoos, free access to all gyms and swimming pools, a back pack and, of course, a tee shirt. I did four events and reckoned they only cost about $20 each after taking into account the freebies. The next games are in Japan in 2021.
Here is the New Zealand Games promotional video.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB7CvBABw9YThat is difficult to believe, sub-60 is a legit for a 50 yo, great for a 60 yo and is otherworldly for a 70 yo. 60 tends to be a major drop off and is the age were most athletes can't keep going often for health reasons and/or just spend so much time injured that its just not fun anymore. - The probably should clone this guy.

Courtney can't run sub-60 in an open 400? What's your source?
I believe Lagat did not fail a drug test; rather, I believe the test produced a false positive A sample and a B sample that was negative. And whatever EPO appeared, as I recall, was reportedly not produced outside his body. Can somebody clarify?

No, because he's not a woman, so he's actually much slower than her.
Amazing!!!
Fantastic performance.
Makes me want to stay in retirement from track though!

I missed that. He decided to go all out while he was fresh. Insane dominance.
