The same goes for Arkansas, Idaho and West Virginia. You're either born there, are escaping the law, or have crashed out in business and/or life and have taken some kind of refugee status.
People w/ talent, class and luck end up in better locales, like California.
Just admit it.
It’s odd that you’d choose those 4 states
Arkansas: the NW part of the state has tons of running and biking trails and has IMBA (international mountain bike association) silver and bronze level ride centers
West Virgina: good mountain biking and hiking and trail running. The mountains their are not huge, but are surprisingly pretty
Missouri: haven’t spent much time there but when I passed through the Branson area I was surprised at how green it was and how many trees were there
Idaho: there are some ehh parts on the east/southeast side. But Sandpoint, Coeur d Alene, Sun Valley and a number of other parts are awesome. Boise is one of only 6 gold level IMBA ride centers in the world. And there are a number of other silver and bronze level centers throughout the state.
If you are wanting to dump on other states you could’ve picked better places....Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma? All would’ve been easier targets
As for California. Lots of beauty for sure. But it’s got the highest tax rates in the country, the most expensive housing, and a perpetual shortage of water. Not exactly traits of an ideal place to live imho. But whatever floats your boat
