The finish of the women's 1500 at the Morton Games was interesting. Check it out.

Do you think Purrier was celebrating or was she just totally tying up and that's why her arms came out - sort of a desperate grab (like Molly Huddle did at NYC Half a few years ago) as Lipari went by?

Elinor Purrier celebrates too early and finishes 2nd as a result? You be the judge

Sweden's Anna Silvander celebrated her pb the proper Irish way.

I don't know Purrier look like she had nothing left and was just trying to hold form but she did bring the arms up so....yes.
-
Looks like she knew she was beaten when her arms went up. I don't see it as an early celebration.
-
To me it looks like she knew she was beaten, and it may have been a surprise. Arms went up in an involuntary reaction to her being passed - no attempt whatsoever to block.
-
Looks like she was celebrating. And Lipari needs to gove Houlihan a call for some advice on sprint form.

Why do I see this on the college forum?

I've been an Emily Lipari fan since my wife and I saw her race at the Boston indoor meet when she was in high school. Followed her progression since. Looks like she beat some good people in this race. -

Because she was an NCAA star as of a month ago so I figured college fans would want to see it. If Lebron James died of a heart attack and I was an NBA fan, I'd post it in the Cleveland forum as I'd figure Cavs fans would want to know. -
When I look at the video I think it's like the Huddle NYC thing. She was totally tying up. She probably thought she was gong o win and may have been starting to raise her hands but then she gets passed and there is an instinctive almost throw your arms out to block her. Nothing really dirty it's almost subconcious.

It looked like her spike got caught in the track and she threw her arms up to maintain her balance. -
It looks like when she processed that she was being passed she only had enough time/distance left to try an extremely poor & desperate attempt to lean at the line. Hands went up instead of back as she poorly lunges forward. Just my interpretation.
-
if you've ever seen purrier race or workout too her arms almost always fly up over the line...I think especially when she's in ALL out effort. I wouldn't say it was an early celebration either
-
I don't think she celebrated.
-
It looks like she's trying to lean forward because that's maybe what Emily did as well ... Emily gets past her and puts both arms forward.
Purrier also looks gassed. -
Is Purrier the fastest thicc runner competing right now? Any other thicc female athletes I need to know about?

Every race Elle’s ever run she gives her absolute all, and if you watch Elle’s races from when she was a freshman at UNH to now, she continues to put her arms up out of exhaustion at the line. She’s done this for years, regardless of a win or not. I think it’s a little absurd to have this as a front page story. She had a phenomenal international circuit in her first couple of races as a pro. 4:07, 4:07 and 8:46, in her first three professional races. All top 2 finishes. Let’s chill out here.

we need to discuss what you consider "thicc"

I will defer to this person who seems to have a lot of experience of her racing, but it looked to me simply to be a case of "Aw, sh**!" -

A little defensive, but you are certainly correct .
