JEH says...
I should have said earlier that there is certainly a place for longer well-paced runs. BUT, if a 20m at 6-6:30 pace does less perceived damage than 20m easy, then something's not right (ie. not aerobically fit).

I was wondering if you had any thoughts on a theory that someone once told me. Would running 20miles at 6:30 pace cause less physiological damage than running 20 miles at 7:30 pace? I am looking at this question in relation to the number of times that your foot strikes the ground, the duration of the run, the force of foot strikes at different paces, and the rate of foot strikes per hour.
I was told that it may cause less damage for someone to run longer runs under 6:30 pace than running 7 minute miles. Anyone thoughs JEH or anyone else?
