The swiss girl Delia Sclabas who came back on the home straight both in that semi-final and also in the first round, is a huge talent, comparably to Healy. She won the European u18 1500/3000 double last year, turns 18 only in November and is now at 2:02, 4:10 and 9:09 (the last one from June 2017 when she was only 16). Still has a somewhat odd running form (although not as bad as Hinriksdottir). She will run 1500 at the senior EC in August.

Nice to see some legit clean juniors advancing in the girls 800!
GO JAPAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
We realized someone else had a World Jrs thread. We've merged the two threads into 1.

Women's 3000 final - isn't that sexist? - is on the track. And the Japanese women have a huge lead at 800. 2:25.00.
It is so funny how they always take the lead and no one goes with them.
So do they have a 3000 and 5000 at World Juniors for women? Isn't that stupid? Like wouldn't the same person almost always win both? -
Two Japanese women have a 6 second lead with 3 laps remaining.
-
Two Japanese girls way out front. The Africans are hanging back cautiously, as one is named "WADA"
-
I think they still have like a 6 second lead with 2 laps to go.
-
4.75 second lead at hte bell. Japan 1-2. Ethiopia 3-4!! Wow.
-
3.75 second lead with 200 to go.!!!
-
Japan wins gold!!!
-
First Japanese got through, the second was caught by the Ethiopians on the final lap. Interesting that so few Africans were in this race, compared to the 5k. Two years ago, Klosterhalfen had to deal with 6 or 7 East Africans and the first four of that race were below 8:50.
-
Japanese runners taking the early lead is typical. But seeing them resist for so long, apparently picking up the pace as the East Africans were trying to close the gap was a real shocker.
-
3:00.55 - 6:03.19 - 8:54.01
If they had kept the pace up during the second kilometer, the second Japanese might have medalled as well. -
Too bad it wasn't the other Japanese who won, the headline could have been: "East Africans defeated by WADA!".
-
YES! Indonesian beats Americans in the 100m final.
-
An Indonesian wins the men’s 100m. Amazing.
-
wow...those americans blew it. they ran faster in the semis with a weaker wind.
I guess having prelim/semi/final might still be new to them?
