It is truly sad to watch all of the track and field geeks get excited by Semenya's 1:54 race in Paris. I have coached division I track and field for 25 years, and I have seen thousands of track meets during my career. There is zero doubt in my mind that Caster Semenya has been sandbagging. There is zero doubt in my mind that she/he could have run 1:54 or better in a dozen races over the last 5 years, but she didn't want to make a mockery of the women's 800. Now, that the rules are going to be changed this fall, he/she is going to go all out to run as fast as she can. In my opinion, Caster Semenya is the equivalent of a good high school boy. And her/his times reflect that. I am not at all impressed with Semenya's performance. There are plenty of high school boys who are faster!
Now he's on the way out, he has given up all pretence of making it look like the other girls might have a chance of beating him.
It's a sick joke, that's not at all funny.

I had her unofficially in like 26.6 for 200, 56.12 FAT at 500 and then 1:25.37.
She finally did what we've all wanted to see her do - go for it. And she did it without a rabbit.

Her sandbagging every race is why I can't be a fan no matter what the CAS decides...

When did we avoid using the word hermaphrodite? I think it's more an issue when use male pronouns when talking about her.

Uh, no. You're not the only one. There's no reason to bash Semanya, Niyonsaba, and Wambui because it's not their fault how they were born. But all the SJW chuckleheads who want to make them cause celebre should meditate on the fact that AT MOST about 2% of births are intersex yet the top three women in the 2016 W800 are effectively doping through endogenous testosterone.
A really rare group somehow also belongs to one of the most exclusive clubs in the world. It's preposterous to think that there is not causal linkage. Sadly, it's going to take several more olympic finals like this before the general public catches on. When's it's obvious that biological women can't compete anymore then things will change. But it will have a devastating impact on the sport first. Maybe Title IX will ride to the rescue again.

I do think there is a another gear available if it came down to tight race down the straight. A second faster-- perhaps but talking 3 more seconds might be pushing it.
1:53.3 has been the target for what 35 years?
Are Meet Directors still offering blanket WR at any event money these days or does each race have it's own bonus structure. I do not think IAAF has published that they offer bonus money for a WR so any bonus is on the meet sponsors.

Yeah if you watched the race then Semenya really went for it this time. When she took the lead at 200m I thought we'd see something really special/WR but 1:54.2 was actually slightly disappointing.
She hit 400m in 56.1 and then slowed for a 58.1 second lap. I'm not sure she can run much faster in my opinion. Although she has a relaxed style her face showed she was working hard.
This “genetic unfair” cry is nonsense. It’s genetically unfair for men to race Kipchoge or Rudisha or Jim Ryun or whoever. All the champs have unfair genetics.
