Went to Milrose to spectate this year and as I was leaving I saw Noah Lyles and got a picture with him. Super cool guy, don't really need to explain given all the attention he's been getting lately.

Rodgers.
And okay, Keith Brantly. But really, and this reminds me, the US running scene from maybe 1988-1994 was plain ugly. Whoever was designing stuff did a BAD job.
Greg Meyer.
Actually, he's the only elite/pro I've met. It was at a running expo sometime in the 1990s...memory fails to recall where (MI? NJ?)
He had a display/booth at this expo. I passed by, did a double-take, and recognized him from photos. I walked over, and said hello. Very kind gentlemen...big smile when I said "You're Greg Meyer...winner of Boston in 1983!" I think he was impressed I knew that (heh heh).
Shook his hand, "an honor to meet you," and a gracious fulfilling of an autograph request.

The celebrity culture sickens me. Taking a selfie with a stranger....for what? To impress your friends?

Chris Bunyan, pocket sized Englishman, who ran at SIU Carbondale, 2.10.44 marathon in Boston.
Circa 1978 met him at Crystal Palace, London, and he was working as a baker at the time, and used to run 2 miles to work, and later home, doing this 4 times a day. Longer runs on weekends. This allowed him.to run 29.30 on that training.
Karel Lismont, Borgloon, Belgium, cafe owner, smokey in those days!. Multi marathon medallist in Euro champs and O.G. circa 1971-1980. Lismont ran 10km three times a day, and rarely over 20km, even on weekends. Third in World cross, circa late 70's.
I knew Chris Bunyan when we ran for Wiltshire (county in England) in the 70s - he was also a pretty good steeplechaser, which was remarkable for his size....
Ive had conversations with amy cragg, evan jager, jordan hasay, alan webb, mo farah, tara welling, christian coleman, and lopez lomong. All of them one were super nice and down to earth except one. Ill let you guys figure out which one.
I jogged and talked with two Olympic 5000m silver medalists, Suleiman Nyambui ( Moscow -80 ) and Markus Ryffel (-84 Los Angeles). Suleiman ran a race that was hold by my club so I had to show him the course the day before. Markus I showed the trails in a running district just for a recovery jog when he the day before won the 10000m in the Europe Cup in my hometown Gothenburg. I also raced in the Europe Cup 10 miles in Verona,Italy, -87 , the same race that was won by the Olympic gold medalist at marathon in Seoul -88 Gelindo Bordin. ( I was placed 18th among 74 European elite runners in a time of 49.58.)
Sara Hall. Met her at Boilermaker 15km this morning after her victory.
