Bernard Lagat is a beautiful runner.
Can a medical student be considered a blue collar runner?
Yes. He will be poor until he finishes his residency.

Gwen was a better runner when she was a triathlete, time to move back down under.
Does Gwen have time to move back to triathalon? I don't see how she makes the Marathon team since the US Women may have their best depth ever.
(Scroll to the top of this page if you haven't seen results yet as we moved them there).

Pennel did some of the work. 4men still had a shot with 1k but Lagat got the win:

A few tweets. In case you missed it, Atlanta declared itself "Running City USA" earlier this week:
If Gwen still plans on making the marathon team, let's hope she is better at the marathon than the 10k.
Bruce and Lagat for the win. A defeat for Father Time.
Sara Hall is on a good streak.
Gwen needs more time.
How did Emma A. do?
M.A.G.A..
40:22 / 6:30 min mile pace. #34 female
Wow, Bernard! Makes me wonder if he could have taken first at the 10,000 at USAs a couple weeks back...
Emma's sister Ellie follows Gwen's lead quitting triathlon for running comes in 12th.
Is Chis Derrick happy with results?
Summer running is a sweaty enterprise.

46 Year-Old Kevin Castille 19th in 30:06, 1 sec. behind Jared Ward.
Allie Kieffer continues to get it done. Slots just below Sara MF Hall and just ahead of Gold Medal Gwen.
Frank Shorter ran 29:20 in 1977 ... think about that

The roads are different.
I finished 30th at Peachtree in 1980 in 29:30.
btw both Stephanie and Aliphine are wearing conventional Hoka Tracers v2
Sara Hall in regular ASICS (not sure which model since Hyperspeed is gone now)
No idea what Allie Kieffer or Emma Bates wears, have to research
Gwen way back in Nike Vaporflys, 33:10 is definitely amazing especially in that heat/humidity but she was nearly a minute slower, 5:13/14/16 pace vs 5:21 pace
Gwen put away the springs and if you have to wear Nike, put on some Streaks for anything under a half, you need faster turnover because of your long legs/stride and the Vapors are working against you
not just the roads, Peachtree is point-to-point, almost exclusively north-to-south
you get a year with wind from the North, not just cooler but +5sec per mile
you get a year with wind from the South, hotter and -5sec pre mile
I guess a lot of old, legacy races in the USA are point-to-point instead of out-back or looped ?
Boston, CIM, Grandmas, Peachtree, etc. etc.
You'd think a race with a "return to start" would be easier to manage and easier for participants

Yes ,not getting paid as a pro and doing something else full time like being a med student.
Desi is not blue collar, full time paid professional athlete that does not work, the 100% opposite of blue collar.

I believe Sara Hall now wears the Asics 451. Same sole as the hyperspeed but different upper and boa lacing system. Pretty sure that's what she wore in her last race so I'm guessing that's what she had on at Peachtree I haven't been able to examine photos.

Of course he's not happy, nor should he be. Though, he's also in the middle of a marathon buildup. Jared Ward with an even worse performance- let's hope he's in the same boat. What sickened me was to see how Lomong just plain gave up. I mean, like he was going to stop type of give up.
Ellie quit the triathlon. 34:05 is pretty fast though
