Point taken. Deep is right. There is at least the slightest chance this is true. Having said that, I do believe that in this climate, it would be more likely that Mizzou would suspend Halter if there were MORE than the slightest chance these allegations were true. A Track coach doesn’t bring revenue - Halter isn’t high enough on the food chain to warrant undeserved protection.

And to vivalarepublica, I never mentioned anything about the Lyles looking for a settlement. Wonder why you brought this up. What I pointed out is that coaches with great athletes can and do lose their jobs for other reasons.

I would never defend a coach alluding to the KKK and/or asking for landscaping from and assistant.

There’s always more than one side to a lawsuit.

Ya, its Y Pipo and Asians having to score a 28 ACT and 3.5 GPA to qualify for a scholarship that certain folks can qualify for by simple scoring a 20 ACT and nothing else. Its me getting constantly getting pulled over at 5:00 am on my way to work(inner city high school) because I have a nice ride, and "White people around here are up to no good." Its being passed over for promotion in the Navy, so a diverse fella with weaker fitness reports can round out the numbers better. Its being told I can't go into the public library right now because it's being used as a "safe space for black bodies." Don’t know much about either side of this story, but what I do know is that Mizzou will protect its own.

Every year, I see this guys name on the boards as possibly being fired. Every year. Why is it a stretch that one of his assistants has come forward and spoke up. How is that hard to believe?

This whole mess has intrigued me, so I started following a trail. So mr. Lyles states he was turn down from a job at UNC, the tabloid reporters incorrectly states for a Head Coach position, which if you look at the timeline. UNC had a HC in place , what UNC was hiring was an asst. coach. Now also during that time the sport admin for UNC track was indeed a former Mizzou track athlete( her name kept out of this ) and had long ties to many at Missouri dating back to former head coach , who named Halter as his successor.

So did Mizzou personnel reach out to her and bad mouth mr. Lyles? The question could be made

People aren’t defending the potential racism without all the facts. People are assuming he is innocent until proven guilty. Due process. Just because there’s an accusation, doesn’t mean it’s truw.

Missouri is also the school that had the woman call in a racist threat, only to find out the threat was made by a black girl trying to push an agenda.

“he said - she said” is tough to prove and the burden of proof is on the accuser.

I think there's a difference between 'presuming innocence" in a court of law and the knee jerk accusations on this thread that the accuser must be a lying money grabbing rap mogul because he was wearing headphones at a track meet.

I'm sure he was completely joking around. No need to play the race card as an excuse to win settlement money. Then again, this is America. If our president can be racist and hold office, then this case should be a no harm no foul situation.
