I don't want to let you know what this video is. Just watch it and tell me if you see a false start or not. If so, which lane.
Here it is in real-time:

No.
We just added in a second video at real time.
Looked like the 2nd runner from the right jumped

so ... lane 3. it was actually easier to see in real time rather than slo-mo. she jumps and it is obvious as her back shoots upwards from the camera's perspective
Yes Lane 2 without question. Can see it in the normal speed video.
Do you mean the second runner who is actually in lane three or the first runner who is in lane two?
Impossible to tell from the video since you can’t see the starting gun smoke.

I'm confused. Does the person not realize all the lanes are filled? There is a black runner in lane #1. It's not empty.
Can nobody see that there is indeed a person in lane 1? Her skin is dark, but I swear that she is there!
And yes, false start from lane 3. As said previously, almost easier to see in real time.
What's this from?
Dutch national champs? Schippers?

Oops. On the still shot before the video starts her outfit blends with the background Asics sign.
I meant lane 3 is the false starter.
It is indeed from the Dutch champs where Dafne Schippers showed up to run in her hometown only to be booted for a false start. She tried to run under protest and that wasn't allowed.
She insisted after the race that she didn't false-start.
Our opinion
1) She 100% should have been allowed to run under protest.
2) She did false start (Yes, that's her in lane #3).
Read all about it here:

Another vote for lane 3 going slightly before the field. Whether or not it is a false start we can't say, since we don't see the gun.
Lane 7 also hasnt finished coming to set position when they fire the gun. Either too fast to fire the gun or lane 7 came up too slow. Starter should have not fired the gun, called them up, and given lane 7 a warning.

seeing the gun is irrelevant. You wouldn't be able to tell. false starts can happen even if you don't move until after the gun

As an official, I'm a fan of these "you make the call" videos. But let's at least make sure we are fully educating those reading and playing along so you don't create more confusion...
Running under protest isn't always allowed depending on the rule book being used so anytime you enter into a discussion related to rules or the potential violation of rules you need to cite what rulebook is being used so that readers can become more educated about the variances across different levels of our sport.
So under what rule do you think her running under protest should have been allowed?
Was there an electronic reaction time recorded and what's up with the subject line in the post I am replying too?
I would love to see the rest of the video after the re-start was called.

In the linked article the electronic reaction time is given as 0.087.
Quote:
"The electronic starting system indicated a response speed of 0, 0 87 seconds and that is faster than allowed."
Schippers feels the starting blocks were not properly adjusted:
"I'm actually not even disappointed, but more amazed, I'm sure I did not have a false start, I think the blocks are not properly adjusted," said Schippers. "In the men's race there were also two false starts."
I think a runner should be able to anticipate or guess the gun as long as they react after the gun is fired.
A 0.087s reaction time should be allowed.
Since the punishment of one false start is a DQ, I don't think may would really try to guess the gun.
But if you do guess it, and push off even 0.01 after the gun is fired, go job, you get get rewarded with a nice start.
