Executive session are missed by many organizations. Topics are often discussed in them that should be opened to members.

This board misuses it all the time, but they actually did not go into executive session this time.
Someone with money should destroy some of the leaders and get this ship righted....Vin Lananna should give Phil Knight a call.

I work in government and the govenemrnt boards we deal with have professional transciption services record and type the entire board meeting. Costs a few hundred per meeting, which the USATF can afford.
Other than this message board is there any blowback at all from yet another egregious misuse and where would it come from? Just the 'Tired of.....USATF' Facebook page?
What are the "politics" that are involved with the USATF board? What are the different factions in the group?
Lots of people who know the group thats involved with Mt Sac know how unprofessional they were and are. I was shocked they even won the original bid and to be honest it bit them in the A#@ and it was well deserved. From the outside they seem like a good group of guys, but if they want to move forward they really need to get rid of their top guys and clean house.
It would of been cool to have the OT's in southern CA, but not under those misfits at Mt Sac!

This may be true, but then USATF should have figured that out before awarding them the Trials. It's ridiculous to just pull the event under such a blatant pretext. USATF hasn't pointed to concrete problems with Mt. SAC's performance yet, and now they're basically admitting that the decision was all about vague concerns over the group's professionalism. That's just not good enough after the award has been made.
The irony of USATF being concerned about another group's professionalism is also pretty funny, though I suppose understandable. USATF is so incompetent itself that it needs to partner with people who really know what they're doing.

Ok, but do any NGBs? What about other non-profits?

Yes. Lots going on behind the scenes.
In terms of places to eat popcorn and get updates or complain about stuff, probably the I'm tired Facebook group is your best bet.
From what I read the USATF was appalled at the hiding of the truth about the lawsuit AFTER the OT's had been awarded.
Regardless of all that, Mt Sac had a great meet with such good possibility and it has been ruined by the people in charge of Mt Sac. I can tell you story after story about the lack of professionalism and knowledge all the athletes, coaches and teams have experienced from the nut jobs that run that invite, track and now former OT's committee.
Like I already said before It would of been cool to have the OT's in southern CA, but not under those misfits at Mt Sac!
0/10 USATF clown boy. Those misfits manage to successfully put on the largest high track meet in the world.
It is too bad they refused to give the special perk$ you demanded as extortion. Sucks to be you.
No "special perk$" needed or wanted here. I just like many many others know how lucky the people at Mt Sac were to have that big Invite. With a gold plate handed to them they managed to screw it up on the High School to professional level. Their actions speak louder then words and everyone that knows how unorganized they have been. Now we can now sit back and enjoy them getting what everyone knew they deserved!

You just confirmed you are on the board. Please make sure that Eugene gets the OTs. You will get your perk$ as you always have.
If USATF's board were violating its own by-laws, wouldn't Lananna be able to sue to get his job back? In the other cases, if they were violating their by-laws could the membership sue on a class-action basis.

You just confirmed you are brain dead.
It makes me laugh how ill informed people like yourself are. I'll say it again, It would of been cool to have the OT's in southern CA, but not under those misfits at Mt Sac!
Maybe just maybe if the people at Mt Sac told the truth and maybe if they treated athletes, coaches and teams with respect they wouldn't be stuck with the karma.
It's true what they say Karma is a Bi#@!.

If that's the case then the Board shouldn't have selected Mt. Sac in the first place and then when announcing the Trails had been pulled should not have given the indication it was solely because of lawsuits surrounding stadium construction:
USATF Statement when bid was pulled:
Bidding to host the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field has been reopened, USATF announced Tuesday. The USATF Board of Directors unanimously authorized the move amid continuing litigation surrounding construction of a new Hilmer Lodge Stadium at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) in Walnut, California, and the resulting delays on planning for a successful 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
The USATF Board awarded the Olympic Trials to Mt. SAC last June. A key portion of the bid was a new stadium on the campus of Mt. SAC. In August, USATF first learned of two lawsuits seeking to halt construction of the stadium: one between the City of Walnut and Mt. SAC and a second, between United Walnut Taxpayers (UWT), a group of local citizens and Mt. SAC. The first lawsuit was settled in April, but the second has yet to be resolved.
With bidding reopened, the USATF Board of Directors will look to re-award the Olympic Trials no later than this June.
For people asking if any other boards release audio of their Board meetings, it's a no brainer to me if a Board meeting is open to the public that audio should be released. That is like the gov't meetings many have referenced.
However, I just looked at the USATF bylaws, I don't think it's required that Board meetings be open to the public. I think it is just tradition.
11J Says, "The Board shall give USATF members the opportunity at the beginning of its meetings to give input or make brief statements. "
but says nothing about Board meetings having to be open the public. If it's in the bylaws I'm missing it. So I'm glad USATF has been making them open if they don't have to.

I suspect there are state non-profit laws regarding non-profits that require them to be open to the members, while they are in open session.
