Poor Andy Bayer. Finally finishes top 3 in a year with no WC or Olympics.
Michael norman is a DNS for the 200m final?
Looks like Norman is a DNS in 200m. Weather / flight related?

Reported he didn't want to risk injury on wet track.
Ridicilous....
Is it on NBCSN right now?

Although can't blame him, the dude is worth millions of dollars right now and the 200m is not even his event.
men's 5000m next
That's not Paul Chelimo.
Jenkins, Panning and Serafini are DNS

Anyone want to talk about the poor field tactics in that women’s 5k? Why didn’t the three Brooks runners work as a Team to take it out faster from the gun? They knew from the 200m mark SH was just going to sit and kick. Does the coach , or even the runners themselves, not understand the advantages of team tactics, as evidenced by Kenyan and Ethiopian runners in international competitions? Or is the psychology of a finalis require that they all think themselves able to win?
Nice idea, but Shelby is actually faster than all of them at the 3000/5000 as well.
Actually, she's way faster than any of them. Her qualifying time (15 flat) was 15 seconds faster than anyone else's time. Put another way, today's race was 30 seconds slower than her qualifying time. For the next fastest runners, today's race was only 15 seconds slower. That's a big part of why she had so much more left in the tank. (Interestingly, this was the slowest 5000 since 2013, when Simpson won in 15:33 (also at Drake!).)
It will be interesting to see how she does in Europe. I don't think she yet has the strength or experience to put herself in a position to use that kick against Dibaba, Sifan et al. She certainly didn't in March, when she got whupped in Birmingham at both 1500 and 3000.
After beating Muir and Simpson (2x), I don't think anyone's going to take her for granted anymore, so it seems unlikely she'll get a chance to run exactly the race she wants.
As for why she's suddenly running so much better, who knows? Maybe there's something in the water in Beaverton. Or maybe, as she said after Birmingham, she's finally got her mind right.
Whatever the reason, it's nice to finally an honest heir to Simpson & Rowbury. It was looking pretty grim there for a while, with the kids (and Kate Grace) all stuck at 4:03.
Then they admitted they have just misidentified him? "They all look alike" - let's hope it wasn't that.
Was anyone watching? I just turned it on as that segment was ending.
