Lol I couldn't imagine a star like Conor McGregor or Lebron James receiving such petty hate from their fans for making a comment as innocuous as this on social media.

He was telling all the instagram models to give him a call.
literally post of the year, bae
possibly all-time
What other American stars were missing? I think this was the best the USA had to offer.

Jeez you guys are stuck up. It was great, classic Centro stuff, and he should be excited about winning. You guys bash everyone for not going to USATF and bash Rupp and Co for not having personality, but when the USATF winner (or any winner) is excited the trolls and snobs come out. It was a weak field, so what? I don't see anyone here pooling money for the winners to encourage more runners to show up. Plus, this is one of the best ways to make track fun, and if you don't like it go back to the golf course so you can sit in silence and whine.
This is the post of the day.
What a bunch of whiney little holier than thou jealous losers the trollers and sanctimonious old bastards are.
I loved his celebration. I thought it was awesome.
Say what you want but he did the job at the Olympics. Took the lead at the gun and never gave it up. Fought off everyone who tried to go by him. I will always remember that great race.

I do like Centro and his personality.
But once you win an Olympic Gold medal it's a bit eye rolling to do a cheesy celebration after winning against one of the weakest US 1500m fields in years.
Especially after getting smoked at Pre, which probably was his most important race of 2018 with no world titles to win this year.
This.
He didn't even look that great coming down the homestretch, either. Wasn't gapping any ofthem. That Scandanavian 17 year old would have destroyed him again yesterday.
Like it or not this is great for track and field. Remember when women's MMA was huge because of the show off that was Ronda Rousey? Some people loved, others hated it, but no matter which side you were on you had to watch.
It pays to be a winner! When ya'll have as many wins as Centro on the national/international stage, then you may have some standing to criticize what was a tiny, almost invisible "celebration." And for those who say he shouldn't celebrate after beating "D level" competition, way to slam middle distance running in the US. Yeah, that'll definitely make us a world power. Please just grow up.
Centro is advertising himself to high school kids. Look at his Instagram posts. He's not very mature and all of his social media tweets and IG posts prove it.

Would hate to see any entertainment and showmanship in T&F. Then maybe some people might actually watch.
This. Want to guess a big part of why Bolt was so popular (other than being fast)? He showed some personality afterwards. The lay-person that doesn't follow T&F super closely are used to bat-flips and touchdown dances and celebrations, not a completely gassed athlete sprawled out on the track (even if the Letsrun crowd would appreciate and understand that is a perfectly acceptable state to be in after a well-run race).
It would be funny if these are the same whiners that say NBC isn't helping to grow the sport because they dare charge for their service.
Why do you think tennis had it´s popularity peak in the 1980s?

No one in the world is tuning in to watch a celebration that was so dumb it needed to be explained by a guy who is most reminiscent of Ziggy from the Wire

Clayton Murphy is stronger this year and faster every year.
Not saying the race would run the same, but if Murphy was in that exact race, he would have easily won and pulled the double.
Easily dusts Centro now, and future.---1500, mile, and definitely 800.
Most T&F fans as well as those who run the sport deeply desire that it remain an unpopular, fringe sport. They do everything in their power to maintain its marginality. You are one of these people.
The reason T&F is a terrible spectator sport is because 90% of its fans are sanctimonious, jealous bastards.
Classy really is a relative / individual thing. I would've enjoyed the call if he were reporting a beating or a beat down. The fact that he used the word murder (coupled with his history of finish line throat slashes) put it over the line for me. The ridiculous thing is that if he said something like the field got killed out there, I probably would've been fine with it - reminded me of the "Mr President - send the National Guard 'cause we're killing the [NFL] Patriots" that a few teams have said (notably Broncos and Rams).
He should have had a guy spray down his feet with a fire extinguisher
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
