Linden leaves Hansons

There all comes a time when we want to head in a different direction. This is what she wants to do, and I hope it works out for her.

Ritz 100% committed a doping violation. USADA won't prosecute him because they want to get Salazar and Dr Brown.

She can leave whenever, wherever. Do what she wants.

The unsubstantiated rumor is that Ritz was injected with more than the allowable amount

of L-Caratine which is not a banned substance. No one knows if this is true. The NYT said that USADA believes it to be true but can't prove it.

This is the ultimate nothing burger. Watch where it goes.

Having lived with Des I can add one thing.

Ryan Linden is a Saint.

Here's some hints as to why she is leaving:

- The Hanson brothers are complete pricks to their athletes, and relationships only sour over time. It only goes in one direction in the long term for most people. They are extremely inflexible and callous

- Almost no former athlete of theirs speaks well of them, especially Brian Sell

- Desi does not train with the women's team and hasn't for quite some time

- Most of their "star" athletes are only vaguely coached by Kevin/Keith. Most of them (Ritz, Des, Shaddy, Bobby Curtis before, others) spend 80% of their time living and training elsewhere

- Desi is almost assuredly writing her own training. Their training program does not evolve, and she is too smart to bang her head against the wall

- She had a huge amount of leverage after winning Boston, and this was the perfect time to sign a solo deal

- The Ritz thing obviously. She was essentially on her own already, so this was a good reason to make it official

Has Ritz ever suited up as a Hanson? I would love to see Desi go train with Shalane and Cragg (old teammate if I'm correct). She has another Olympics in her.

Does anyone else get MMMBop stuck in their head every time they read a discussion about the Hansons?

I'd like to know if Linden actually talked to Ritz face to face to get his side of the story, or did she just moan about it to the Hansens and tweet some passive-aggressive micro aggressions?

I have huge respect for her as a runner, and as a person for the most part. But a couple of points she doesn't seem to acknowledge: Ritz has never been found guilty of PED usage, and he left NOP rather then continue with their practices. She should be applauding him for getting out from under Salazar's thumb, not ostracizing him. She should be presuming innocence until guilt has been proven.

Additionally, and not to excuse Salazar's purported behavior, but to put some perspective and some sense of comparativeness to it, Salazar is not like Aden who deliberately chooses drugs that are unambiguously banned, and have unambiguously significant impact on a runners performance and durability: EPO, Steroids etc. Salazar is simply trying to game the system by using legal substances to their utmost. L-Carnitine is not banned, and nor is Thyroid medication in certain situations (its their method of delivery that has limitations). Also, neither of these have the strong responses of EPO and steroids, responses that can purportedly have effects for years after usage is stopped. If someone deliberately plans and executes a murder, do they get the same sentence as someone who kills someone by mistake, accident or misunderstanding? I can't imagine how many Doctors would be on death row if so.

Who wouldn't want a coach that tries to do everything (to the best of their knowledge) within the rules to make you faster? Salazar assured his team what he was doing was legal, why would they disbelieve him? Well, i guess some of them like Ritz did disbelieve him and eventually they left, so good for them, don't have a hissy fit about it. If someone makes a mistake, criminal or not, does rehab and jail time, does that mean that afterwards they can't be hired again for the same job? One strike you're out?

Some on here attack Desi. Some attack Hansons and still some attack Ritz. I choose to move on and wish them all luck in the future. Why does someone have to be wrong?

He was second in NYC half in March wearing Hansons gear.

That investigation has been going on for years, and they haven't even managed to find one piece of usable evidence. This is even with leaks being made left and right by Fancy Bears, who are TRYING to make western athletes look bad.

Why do people think an investigation thats been going on "for years" means there's nothing there.

If there was affirmably nothing there then the investigation would be "closed."

I thought she would retire. Is she leaving the Hansons or just leaving the sport?

Ritz indeed did dope while with NOP. He made it clear that was one of the reasons why he left. He was uncomfortable their methods. While with NOP he felt obliged to do as his employer NIKE and coach Salazar wanted.
