She's in a mileage buildup. It is unreasonable to expect someone to build her base at altitude, drop into a 10,000, and display peak sharpness.

I’m a college coach and have coached a few girls to sub 33 10ks and a slew of sub 35. Just comparing those two types of abilities I can tell you they’re worlds apart... they don’t even train together.
On an elite level, if you’re 20 seconds or more slower over 10k you can pack it up, it’s a totally different level. Huddles pr I believe is a good 1:30 or around there faster then Gwen. Gwen is a tough girl and she may improve a lot over the next two years but unless she has a big breakthrough, she ain’t medalling at the Olympics, hell she won’t make the team. Shalane, huddle, hasay, linden. She better hope two of these women are injured or running a different event. Then she still has to beat runners like Taylor and Sarah hall who aren’t slouches either but I believe aren’t Olympic medal contenders. They right now would beat Gwen at a marathon I would bet my house on it.
Hasay is gonna be the future of the marathon for USA. Huddle is gonna do well but I don’t think she will run a fast marathon PR, if it’s a tactical race I like her chances. Shalane is about done so she may be the one not at the 2020 trials.

I'm so over all this Jorgensen hype. She's just another weird/OCD distance runner that is beating her body into the ground. Surely, her husband gets sick of being the maid, cook, and caretaker while all she does is continue to overtrain?

Except that is exactly what Meb did when he set the US 10K AR. Larsen had him up in Mammoth for about 2 months building mileage and then came down to Stanford a couple of days before the meet to run the 10K with a bunch of fast Kenyans.

Not much of what has been said here can reasonably be construed as hate. It's mostly knowledgeable spectators of the sport commenting objective on her performance.

"She's a social media presence. Not an athlete. Weaksauce."
"Man, I really hope she makes a video about this race."
"and her husband does not have a job."
"Gwen is an arrogant fool."
Yeah, lots of objective race critiques...
She's the person who has been all over social media, asserting she will win a gold medal in the marathon in the next Olympics. Commenters on this thread reasonable believe that confidence is unjustified, and most have presented their reasoning in the posts containing the quotes you presented.
I said this back when she announced her intentions 2:27-2:29 debut and 2:25-2:27 for peak times.
Has 20 months to keep improving to make the Olympic team and will be a contender but not a favorite (to make the team), winning not likely, Olympic medal, very very not likely. Nevertheless, naysayer experts and negative nancys stay home in mom's basement. Pathetic.

She never asserted she will win a gold medal in the marathon in the next Olympics, so you're being intellectually dishonest.. The above quotes are just hating, not constructive critique. It's pathetic.

Still, she has no chance of making the team. Her Olympic aspiration is nothing but a gimmick.
I want you all to hear this quote right here and please bring it up after the Olympic trials marathon.....
Rochelle kanuho will beat Gwen Jorgensen!
Neither will make the team!

Don't forget Mark Nenow running 140+ miles a week setting American records.

"No chance" is inaccurate, though I too don't think she will make the team. "Still", it doesn't make the personal attacks any less pathetic.

Idiots. They said it's "unreasonable to expect" her to be sharp, not that she can't be sharp. Pointing put a couple success stories doesnt really correlate with what they said.
I am a big Jorgenson fan, but place and time don't lie. Right now she probably is a top 10 marathon trials talent, and almost certainly not at top 5 marathon trials level. She needs a big jump in improvement over the next year to put herself in the position of being a serious contender for a spot on our marathon team.

"My next goal is to qualify in the marathon for Tokyo 2020 and win gold," she said in an exclusive phone interview with FloTrack on Monday afternoon.

I'm well aware of the interview. Do you understand that words have meanings and that having something as a goal is not the same as asserting that you are going to do it?

Seems like she was roped into triathlon but didn't like it all that much. Despite that, she had remarkable talent for that event and ended up being one of the best in the world. She figured she doesn't even like triathlon and was better than everyone so if she focused on running which she happens to enjoy, there's no reason not to believe she'd also kick ass at that. Turns out she's not a world beating running talent. But she already committed, so here we are.
