He looked fast, but it was hand-timed so who knows how accurate that time actually is.
Impressive
Why is he coming back? Out of money?
He needs better actors for his timers. He didn't run anywhere close to 4.43.
I assume you didn't try to time it yourself, because I got 4.45. I mean there's the hand time correction and track to turf correction, but still...

Yes 4.65 a few times and that's my slow reaction on a phone. His timers fake disbelief and one of them didn't even look at the watch made me suspect.

Doesn't matter. At 44 he is faster and fitter than 98% of 20 yr old males.
A hand timed 40 on the track with no verification of the actual distance accuracy. Lots to suspect here. Is he super fit for a 44 year old? Hell yeah. But this 20 second video does nothing to prove that he's NFL caliber anymore.
he ran that time on a track. not on turf.
doubt that would make a huge change for his 40 time .... but it's worth pointing out.

My first thought was that he is broke.
Even so, only 5 receivers clocked a time better than 4.5 at the combine this year. He's in great shape.
The black guy timing him is Julio Jones- maybe you have heard of him. Jones has nothing to gain and everything to lose if this turns out to be short or faked or whatever. I agree the time is not 100% as is hand timed but still gives a good idea that he is in the 4.45-4.5 range.

40s are ALWAYS hand-timed. Even the combine isn't FAT.
More like the 4.6 range in reality but why let the facts get in the way of a good interwebs urban legend.

I would adjust Owens time to 4.55-4.6 area. That is not fast for NFL WR. That would be considered "average to slow."
"Since 1999, the NFL has used partially electronic timing to determine 40-yard times at the combine. The start of the run is timed by hand, but the finish is recorded electronically using a laser "plane" that runs across the finish line.
That "unofficial" time is then adjusted (presumably to compensate for the reaction time of the hand-timed start), and the "official" combine time that the media and fans drool over is then determined."
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1543670-how-are-40-yard-dash-times-recordedOwens toward the end of his career had a problem with dropped passes, he's too slow to create separation from cornerbacks and he's never liked going over the middle as an slot receiver would typically do. No NFL team is going to pick him up as free agent. He has always been a diva for his entire career, always getting into fights with his QB and coaching staff. Who wants that washed up headache?
He isn't going to get on an NFL team. They wouldn't hire him now even if he was 35. He should run Masters' track.

That looked like 30 yards and not 40.
He's a beast
Takes care of himself.
