What A&M coach “just got fired?”
Mark Rowland. Already in town. Then hire a talented young female to assist him.

I didn't know this until today but Francique was let go at A&M this spring. And there was a thread on LetsRun before it happened.

Alleyne Francique - the guy who coached Donavan Brazier and Jazmine Fray to collegaie records and recruited Sammy Watson.
I'm still blown away that he got let go mid-season and hardly anyone noticed. I had no idea until last week.

Not gonna happen, good gig with nike without any expectations. Besides he can’t recruit. Vanhoy has the job

Why would anyone think Francique would take over a distance program at UofO? Nonsense.
They're not going to hire Francique lol. They need a distance coach. Francique coaches the same group that Robert Johnson coaches. They need a distance coach, not another 800 coach.

He hurt his stock in two ways. One, by being just a 400/800 coach which gives him zero credibility as a distance(xc) coach... and getting fired for something no one should get fired for
Here is who I'd consider if I were Johnson
Van Hoy - Results at BU and Ole Miss have been incredible. Jenkins can put in a good word for him.
Joe Franklin - UNM - Oregon is going to get US recruits. He can also bring in foreigners although they may not have many scholarships for those types. Plus he's older than the boss. Lots of bosses don't like this.
Vigilante - Princeton - Has any current coach not named Powell coached someone to more individual NCAA champs than him with Manzano/Andrews? Guy is proven amazing coach of top-end talent.
Don't need to look too far south. Coach Lehman-Winters at U. Of San Francisco is surely a front runner. Female presence. Damn near winning NCAA D.C. Titles at a mid major. The respect of her athletes. What a power move for Nike/Oregon to hire another strong female with Maurica leaving. Don to Duck!
What about Rob Conner or Pat Tyson?

I would be highly surprised if either of those things happened. In fact, I'd be shocked if either of them didn't retire as coaches of their current respective schools.
Tyson only has a few years left, most likely. While he has UO roots, he would not thrive in that setting as it currently exists. He's far too easygoing. That's not a bad thing, but it wouldn't fly at Oregon.
And RC has no reason to leave UP. Family, lifestyle, etc. Plus, he's made his living on developing athletes and teams, not on buying them. He's done it all without a track to train on, not a world-class "Palace." He's a man of ideals, and going to Oregon would be a violation of what he believes in.
Travis Thompson, previous assistant coach at Univ. of SanFran. He is also close AlSal, Centro, Nike, and was a previous 800m stud there!

Another interesting suggestion, but another no. First off, he was the assistant at USF in charge of sprints, not distance. He didn't run XC while at Oregon. He only once ran a race longer than 800m, and that was a 4:05 1500. I know that running creds aren't what they're looking for, but clearly, they need someone with at least a little bit of a distance background.
Travis is also doing really well with his new business. I don't see him giving that up, even if offered the choice to help at UO.
Do you really think Robert on his own will pick the next distance coach? And ya'll know Robert interviewed at Texas?

Robert Johnson interested in Kentucky, perhaps?
Johnson's base salary at UO - $350,000
Floreal's base salary at UK - $300,000 (Although $429,000 was reported in NYT, but that likely includes bonuses)
If UK has a more enticing offer, Johnson could be on his way out. That would really shake things up at Oregon.
Obviously Robert Johnson, Co founder of LRC
