I'll admit the subject of the thread was a bit of my trolling the boards. I'd give myself an 8 out 10. But this thread is one I'm fascinated by. First of all, I didn't even realize that a) he won the 5k b) didn't make NCAAs and c) didn't even run the 5k at regionals (but then again he didn't have a qualifier). So many questions. 1) Did he want to do the 1500 all along or only do it because he didn't have a 5000 qualifier? 2) How does one get in good enough shape to win the 5k at Pac 12s over Saarel and McGorty and yet not pick up a 5000 qualifier? 3) WHat the heck happened at regionals in the 1500? Now someone says his coach didn't coach track. What does that mean? Now let me respond to a few posts.

Kept hyping Fernandez and he became a bust. Moved on to Saarel and the same thing happened.

It's not fair to call either a bust.
Saarel just won the Pac 12 5k.
He was pretty darn good as a collegian. Do you realie he got 8th in xc as a frosh? 7th as a sophomore? He scored many times at NCAAs in track and was 3rd as a frosh.
The talent is massive, I just imagine the ulcerative colitis and academic stress are big. For those of you who don't think academic stress is big for these really smart dudes, just go watch our interview with Fisher from last night.

I said -3 seconds last night, but my post got deleted by rojo lol
Can confirm this, I remember seeing it. WTF, rojo?
I did delete it. It was late and I didn't get what you were saying. You'd say you'd lose by -3 seconds. I don't know how that wasn't obvious for me but we'd been working all night and it was like 1 am and I deleted as I only wanted serious replies.
