I agree. And one of the biggest shame is the damage we are doing to these confused adolescents. At the very least, they should be counseled to hold off doing anything until they are older.
But this nonsense of referring to them as females and allowing them to dominate female athletics is pure leftist craziness.

Most of the reasons why women have been underperforming against men is due to behavioral sexism inherent within sports. There’s less drive to compete or train as a woman ecause of sexism in the system teaching them that women shouldn’t be athletic.
The more equality we foster in schools will lead to faster women performance. Transgendered athletes have better performance because they were previously socialized in a sexist system.
Ummmm, girls (can I say"girls?") have been outperforming boys (can I say "boys?") academically for years. And women, by several measures (greater longevity in places where they are not killed by abortion or infanticide, fewer incarcerated, more academic degrees), have been outperforming men for years, too. Does it follow, then, according to you, that women's (can I say "women's?") athletic performances should have closed the gap and even surpassed those of men (can I say "men?")?

New York City now has a Unity Project, apparently championed by Mayor de Blasio's "ex-lesbian" wife, Chirlane McCray, with posters inside many subway cars featuring "gender nonconforming" (I'm not quite sure what that means - gender not conforming to sex, perhaps?) youth, some as young as 13 years old. One guy featured in a poster identifies as a "queer man of transexual experience." I do not know what that means. Many identify themselves as "pansexual." If they keep this up, I'll be as confused as they are.

Our inability to believe they mean what they say is our weakness. I used to have that problem too, but I got past it. I assure you, they mean it, every last bit of it.

I think they want to be slapped back down in society. They are begging for it. They are pleading "please discipline me/us". It's all for attention. Trust that. These culture Marxists are dying to be dominated and put in their place, back in the closet. It's all a sh-t test, and we are failing it.
Who decided in the instance of transgenderism that the body is wrong and not the brain? Seems to me it is a problem with the brain. It makes no logical sense to reject science and claim a male body is a female body because the owner of the body is confused.
Conditions such as these call for understanding, but also demand truth. If an alcoholic denies he has a problem with alcohol, it is not compassionate to go along with his denial, and it is not cruel to tell him he has an illness. And while gender dysphoria requires compassion, it does no one any good to deny simple truths, i.e. men have penises and testosterone, and physical advantages in athletics. To deny such a fact either further proves the delusion, and/or is a marker of extreme narcissism.
In addition, having a mental condition does not absolve anyone from the responsibility of living fairly and kindly with others. People owe one another compassion and understanding, but they don’t owe anyone the rewards or success from their own hard work to make up for the hardships of someone else. The girls in that race don’t owe first place to those two young men because they are troubled and reject their own bodies.
One final thought. It is not an insult to call someone mentally ill if they are showing real signs of it. It’s a first step to helping someone. That people are being steered to gender “reassignment” surgery rather than any sort of behavioral therapy seems to be a big exercise in denial, and to me exposes the true phobia and prejudice in this society... mental illness. We need to lift that stigma, fast, lest we see more suicides.

I agree with this. I add, though, that some people are born inter-sex with either anatomical or physiological ambiguity.
