Why is that your understanding? As far as I know they are pretty heavy on the endurance part and doesn't do much speed training..
1. Vebjørn Rodal said that the Ingebrigtsens haven't even started speed-training yet when commenting at NRK tv during Bowerman Mile. Also said that Jakob has limited speed resources at the time beeing.
2. Henrik Ingebrigtsen has reported that he is currently too slow and has problems maintaining a speed og 24-25 kmh before Eugene 2 mile run, but hopes to maintain a faster speed during season.
3. It makes sense to do speed training during racing season due to faster recovery.
4. Previously all Ingebrigtsens have pointed out the need for a high speed capacity of around 50+ last round to be able to win a world championship/olympics in 1500m.
By speed training I would suppose 800m speed.
1. Thats because Gjert said that, and he didn't mean "speed", he said they hadn't done much track workouts. This doesn't mean "speed", just hard workouts on the track. Could be anything from 3000m to 200m speed. Probably mostly 1500m speed. As is their style.
2. Henrik is slow because of the surgery to his hamstring, hes already said he would focus on 3k/5k this year because his hamstring can't handle speed. He would not be able to do much "speed" training when even 1500m speed is hard for his hamstring. Hes barely had any workouts on the track since last summer.
3. ....
4. Sure they would work on some speed, but thats never been their focus, nothing pointing to them doing it more this year.
