I just read something interesting about breaking up high school runners into sprints, middle distance, and long distance based on their vertical leap. I have no idea how good of an indicator of speed it is, but I thought I'd measure mine "just to see". The author gave no numbers to go by though. He just said to break the group into thirds based on their vertical leap. Well, mine is 12 inches as of today and I plan to try it again when I am better shape. I don't expect this to give some sort of magical revelation, but I thought it would be interesting to compare numbers with anyone interested. I'm a 21-year-old female for reference.
