Hello guys! My doctor faxed my MRI results this afternoon, I'm not going to meet with him until next week though. I have been suffering for around 2 years with what I perceive to be chronic ankle instability - can anyone please put the report in more simplified terms? :)
No tear or tendinosis/strain of the extrinsic flexor and extensor tendons. No mass/cyst formation of the anterior and posterior tarsal tunnels. Minimal peroneus brevis tendon strain/tendinosis at its proximal inframalleolar portion, without tear. No abnormalities of the peroneus longus tendon. No peroneal tendon subluxation.
Minimal thickening of the proximal CFL: borderline thickening of the ATFL; minimal edema of the PTFL. Findings are likely from subacute/chronic sprain, without ligament discontinuity. No tear or significant sprain of the deltoid or distal tibiofibular ligament complexes.
Also - based on the extent of damage, do I have any chance of running again? Or should I be considering surgical repair??? I'll discuss this with my sports med dr of course, but for now some insights couldn't hurt. Thanks!
