With so few distance events, I'll definitely be skipping this one. I've always thought most track meets have too few events, not too many. I want to watch a full slate of events, including 10,000s or at least 5000s for most international track meets. Its no wonder all the top distance runners go straight to the marathon now.
I watched most of the Hengelo meeting, although with some breaks due to connection problems and I also thought that they could have had more events. Lots of interviews in Dutch and talking between two Dutch announcers. While I am not such a great fan of most field events, they could easily have had two or three more.
And only one middle distance race each for m and w is also poor. (In the mile race nobody accepted the pace and it was fairly boring with a predictable win for Simpson)
I can somewhat understand (although I personally regret it) that the 10000 have become rare but 3000 and 5000 can be quite exciting, or they could have had at least 800 AND Mile/1500 for m and w.
This is just the result of championship style racing. No one wants to watch a bunch of guys jog around the track. The only thing more exciting than that is a commercial break.
Maybe they can use the laser pacers to eliminate anyone going slower than a certain pace.
