Hello running gods,
I've been training for a bit more than 3 years now and I was wondering if next target sounds realistic.
I just run 2 half marathons in 1h23m and wondering if a 2h45m target for an Autumn marathon 18 weeks away is achievable or not. And if not, what would be a more realistic target.
My average week is:
M: VO2max - 5x1000 or 6x800, or 4x1200 all at 5k pace
T: Easy
W: 6/7km, or 2-3×3200 at 15k pace
T: Easy or Steady
F: Easy
S: 30km Long run
Weekly mileage is around 60 miles (96km).
I focus more on steady and threshold sessions when marathon day is still away, and more on speed and VO2max as the race approaches.
In terms of potential, I am absolutely average, despite a progression from 4:58 to 3:30 in 18 months and from 3:30 to 2:59 in another 18 months in full marathon distance.
Starting with a 1:23 in a half marathon 2 weeks ago, would be a 2:45 achievable in 18 weeks of training ( probably Pfitzinger 18/55-70)?
