IU follows NCAA rules, therefore these athletes would need to demonstrate hormone therapy to be eligible.
I don't think this rule will last very much longer. Is the NCAA willing to risk getting sued if/when the athlete gets testicular cancer (or something else) because she was forced to take hormonal therapy in order to compete?
I don't think that athletes should be forced to take drugs. By forcing student/athletes to take drugs, the NCAA is talking from both sides of the mouth.
Not trying to put words in our mouth or assume anything that isn't true, but just to clarify, are you against the hormonal therapy and think it should be removed (or vise versa) or are you just stating what you think will happen in the near future?
She had a subpar weekend. Although she won the 100 and 200, her times were not very fast. She lost the 400 and only ran 59.90. She is not trending in the right direction.

What are you talking about? She is going to help usher in a new level of women's competition, soon it will all be equal and no more of these male/female segregated races!
Yearwood has started hormone therapy..And i am not sure about Miller......I couldn't imagine how tough it is for these kids to be living there authentic lives.....From what I remember "runners" were never the cool kids in school...Can any of you imagine the flack these 2 are getting in their day to day life? I really doubt this is some Rouge plan to get a class M track medal...It's not like they are going to the Olympics...And people complaining about them taking other girls spaces....If this wasn't CT, none of these girls would be making it to states
If they don't have a uterus or a kitty, they are not girls.
I will believe the sincerity of you trans supporters when you offer to marry one.

Haha fair point! Then we won't have to worry about whether it's unfair to the girls' division or not, it will just be everyone competing!
I've always felt much younger than my chronological age and have always been told that I act and look much younger, also.
Don't you all think that I should be permitted to bring some serious heat in the Little League World Series even though I just turned 42? No justice, no peace and I mean it.

Well, I've always felt like a small person, a dwarf in fact although I weigh about 20 stone(280 lb). Is it not unjust that I cannot compete as a feather weight in the local Golden Gloves boxing tournament?

I've never used Ancestry.com but I feel strongly and deeply that I'm at least partly a person of some color or the other. Shouldn't I be eligible for minority scholarships?

I'm 25 years old according to my birth certificate, my relatives and my medical exams but I feel like an eighty year old, especially after a Jack Daniels 16 mile tempo run. I demand all senior citizen discounts and will be applying to receive social security benefits 42 years early.
can somebody not just be an adult here and decide when is too much?? freaks like these two lovely young boys with wigs and stuffed bras are ruining this sport.
as a male, it's not hurting me, but I'd like for women to be able to compete in a fair way, and this is not it.
Also, it's kind of pathetic that these "hard working girls" can't run faster than a 59 second 400 with a pair and the biceps of a linebacker.
This really hits a nerve for me.
And! in like every interview, you see the dad of andraya saying "people have said it's not fair... and honestly I don't think about what is fair, I think about what makes my daughter happy"
By that standard, I want to marry a 4 year old girl cause she's cute and i like her and that's what makes me happy.
This is American everybody.

That happens to a lot of girls as they mature. While guys tend to get better throughout HS, some girls develop and get slower as they get closer to child-bearing age. Too bad she picked the wrong gender for athletic ‘progress.’
You CANNOT compare feeling a different age to feeling a different gender. So transageism is invalid and doesn't exist.
Age follows a non-deterministic linear chronological path. There is no decision making at each step since your age is linearly modeled by time. There is only one variable influencing age: time.
Gender, on the other hand, is a determistic model where at each step, any number of factors can determine what your gender is until your tree ends at the correct gender. It is a non-linear purely determistic model.

What she loses in terms of speed she will make up for on the emotional front. Brains over brawn. Tell her not to fret. She will see the benefits of her hormonal and physical composition soon enough. Regarding her same sex peers, She should stay the course. Her sickly, stickly peers will burn out in their one dimensional worlds.

This pretzel logic is the perfect illustration of a Marxist dialectic; faulty reasoning made to sound intellectually sophisticated.
Whether linear or deterministic, a delusion does not negate your objective, scientifically measurable, physical condition and you should not be permitted to live and benefit according to a separate set of laws, to the detriment of all others.
Now, a separate accommodation for disabilities is absolutely needed for those whose medical and/or psychological abnormalities cannot be treated to conform to the laws.
We already have the Special and Paralympics. What we need is a Psycholympics for the truly deranged who can’t figure out what plumbing they got and what they want to keep. Each race could end in a session of shock therapy. Fast is fast and their junk should not get in the way of their success, period!

This crap is so silly one doesn't know whether to cover their eyes or toss a hand grenade. It's ridiculous.
Miller has refused to give any interviews and has told the school and district to essentially remain silent. He competed as a boy during indoor and is now running as a girl. Part of me is wondering if he is doing this to prove a point. Clearly more talented than Yearwood, who is a mediocre boy athlete and just an above average girl athlete. If Miller does not do hormone therapy (not required to do so and can't before 16 anyway) he could obliterate the state records in the 100, 200, and the 400. He could be daring the state to rewrite the girls records for a boy who identifies as a girl.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
