Ches didn't look good, but he hasn't raced outdoors. Was supposed to race at Oxy. Maybe he's had an injury. Jon will find out.
Make sure Jon interviews the FIRST-AMERICAN-BORN!!!
thats what we really want to see
Why are people ripping on the fact that Barega is 18 in an open DL race? Even if he's lying, it's not like that would give him an advantage. Age cheating only has any significance whatsoever at the junior level (I'd say the youth level too but now that basically doesn't exist).

I got 54.5 for Barega's last lap, but ugh, what a disappointing night. I hope he dosen't disappear like all the other great youngsters from Ethiopia.
WTF happened to Ches...
Ches DNSed at Oxy so we'll try to find out.
I enjoyed the two races. I had barega in 54.73 with a 26.07 last 200.
https://twitter.com/letsrundotcom/status/1000215300141387777Speaking of Ches. I find it weird intellectually that I know people who think it's great King Ches is getting citizenship but are irate about the WCAP. Why? Lawi Lalang has lived in this country just as long as Cheserek + He joined the army.
Lawi's first US track season was 2011 as was Ches's.
Age cheating and drug cheating go hand and hand. Look for the Italian coach/agent/manager. We've seen this 1000 times before.
That was a joke of a race. The closing speed was not even that fast for how slow of a race it was.
Yeah for guys to claim they were gonna AT LEAST run two 403 miles back to back for a American record, it's quite pathetic they couldn't negative split at least a 403 after a slow first mile..sigh
Is there a reason that there isn't a LRC 1st AMERICAN-BORN!! trophy handed out after each event?
It could be a real-life stuffed bald eagle with a Rupp Certified T-shirt.
And if for some reason meets aren't willing to go along, Rojo could just run out of the stands after each event and present the dead eagle on the track as soon as the cross the line.
the athlete could wear it on a victory lap before handing it back to Rojo for the next event.

Hill was the most impressive American in this race period. No big talk, no hype, first real race and still ends up only a second behind Chelimo

Remember when chelimo said he was going to take a run at the American record in this one? What a crock that was. I'm all for trying to win the race instead of record chasing, but if you are going to make a claim like that you should make it more than 200m at record pace.
Agreed. Sick of that kind of posturing. Put up or shut up.

Cheserek is a good example of why agents shouldn't be allowed to coach.
You weren't spouting that during the indoor season, were you?
No one cares about indoors. No one!
Jenkins knocks the snot out of Ches. Maybe Ches “let him win.”

This kid is special. Selemon Barega and Stanley Waithaka will bring back the Haile Gebreselassie and Paul Tergat rivalry. They'll dominate for a long time.
Hope someone asks WTF to Chelimo regarding the lack of effort to run a fast pace with the rabbits and the pre-race chatter.
No offence to you Americans, but Pre has become such a rubbish, low-rent meet. First of all, I don't consider the mile and two miles, or any other non metric distance for that matter, legitimate distances. No one outside the US/UK understands or cares. And as if the weak, watered down fields weren't bad enough, they schedule it right opposite the Champions League final where Real Madrid will be playing Liverpool. No television in the world will be on Pre, I can guarantee you that. What were they thinking?

Maybe someone should pass you Capriotti’s phone number:)
Most people are still surprisingly under the impression that Tom Jordan is the meet organiser......

For once, we agree.
Pappa Ingebrigtsen reaction to Henrik's 5th place: Had he not been boxed in, he would have blown by all of his competitors for the win in lane 2. https://www.nrk.no/sport/ingebrigtsen-satte-norsk-rekord_-_-selvtilliten-er-ikke-helt-der-den-skal-vaere-1.14056074
was he really being boxed in?
Worth noting for those that have NBC Sports Gold, the ad free stream starts at 345 eastern, which will allow us to see the international mile (starts at 348). Tv coverage doesn't start until 400.
