My point is that SV seems to be working for a lot of people. Do you think there is any place where there aren't people in need? There is no utopia, bro.
What do you mean by "lots of destitution"? Take a trip to east st. louis and compare your "lots of poverty" in SV with the "lots of poverty" there. Report back.
Wild idea here: what if poverty in an area of extraordinary wealth (SV?) and poverty in an area of less general wealth (E. STL?) have different causes and maybe require different responses?
That could very well be true. I'm just pointing out that there is a lot more poverty in esl vs. sv. In my view, SV is working pretty well while esl and many other areas in the USA and the world are completely broken. There is no utopia.

OMG, you are clueless! I live in SV. Lots of good stuff going on here. And lots of homelessness, poverty, destitution, . . . Oh, but you're visited SV and you "don't see it"? LOL

My god, you are stupid!
I don't disagree that SV works for a lot of people. I am one of them. And I specifically said, "Lots of good stuff going on here." Do you have reading comprehension problems, bro?
My point was that your post about not seeing any destitute people here in SV was beyond-belief moronic.

btw, only in america are liberal and leftist used as synonyms. doesn't make any sense.
+1. Nice post. Finally, someone with common sense. Extreme socialism sucks. Extreme capitalism sucks. The reality is some blend of the two.

Stir up a conservative Vs liberal argument for clicks ?
Hey, if it's entertaining, why not? Talking ONLY about running forever and ever gets boring.

Maybe Wejo can stop whining about how he was to have a more civil discussion. He can’t even control his own brother.
Why is it that the same people that are ok with a real-estate mogul motivated by endless profit, elite status, rampant greed are so against the same characteristics in SV? Simple tribalism without critical thinking.
Realistically, the rich on either end of the political spectrum have way more in common than they are willing to admit. The rich left gives good lip service to social justice issues and does nothing, the rich on the right go to church every week and pretend that God doesn't see what they do the rest of the week. Neither really give a crap about their fellow man, the "I've got mine" mentality is enough for them.

Retard, there is not "lots of poverty" in SV. Not even close.

Well said.
The US has a foundation of socialism blended with capitalism. Socialism allows us to have a military, an infrastructure including roads, electrical grid, water supply, sewers, schools to educate the masses, fire and police departments to protect its citizens, government departments with a charter to protect the health and well being of the people (FDA, EPA, FAA, FCC, etc). Those social programs enable capitalism to work at a high level because the companies do not have to cover those basic needs (safe, educated, motivated work force with a means to get to work). The capitalism side allows economic growth that pays the taxes for the social programs. We must have both.
But there are large percentages of Americans who believe that one is the answer and the other is evil. If they actually did away with the other side, they would be sorry very quickly when America completely collapsed. Worse yet are those who expect all the government services but don't think they should have to pay taxes to receive them.

That's a good point actually, never thought about this analogy.

there is only so much you can say about running....one foot in front of the other
and you can't argue politics with anyone at work....or with anyone in your family or there will be hurt feelings....LR is a great place for it....most people are educated and intelligent, even if they are on the other side of the argument
This is barely politics.
It's just a thread to get idiots on both sides to bash their skulls together.
Don't know about the first claim but the last two are all that need to be said.

How does Facebook act like it’s saving the world? The self importance that most whites drown is in evident in your posts, your articles, your website...now if Facebook were our personal National Enquirer, can we use it to buy out and kill stories about our trists with porn stars and hookers?
Indeed
Silicon Valley seems like an ideal place to be a hypocrite. If you are not a hypocrite there, you just are not trying.
Liberal?
Silicon Valley is Libertarian.
They want to do what they will, pay no taxes.
