Rojo, you don’t get to play both sides! You can’t start a thread hyping Hunter and then spend all your posts denigrating his performance.
I thought your Kerr post was really telling. You thought a race between them would be ridiculously lopsided, and cited a race where Kerr ran 3:57 with a 54 last lap. Well, hunter ran 3:56 today with a 55 last lap. A couple weeks ago, it was a 3:58 with a 54 last lap. No two races are the same, but it seems unlikely that were Hunter in that NCAA race, he would not have been able to close in about 55 seconds. Kerr would have beaten him, but Hunter would have gotten 2nd, and it probably would have been close. And I haven’t seen anyone on these forums arguing Kerr isn’t going to be a top pro once he graduates.
Yeah, this one race doesn’t mean that much. But you (or someone who works for you) said it yourself after Hunter’s BAA race—when someone’s winning races, that’s always a good sign, regardless of time. It’s a little early to pop the cork on a champagne bottle, but if Hunter does well at USAs and runs a 3:34 in Europe—or if he competes well in the international mile next week at Pre and runs 3:52—this hype will seem very warranted.
