You think Ed Eyestone is leaving BYU? Ha.
What about distance Lyle Weese from Montana State. Pat Casey(3:41 1500), Christian Soratos(3:39 1500), Diego Leon(13:39 5k)... Alyssa Synder(32:58 10k) these are names that I just know, there is probably more great work he has done at a small/mid school
Maybe it's assistant coach Diljeet Taylor?

I almost posted when this thread was new that his success has waned in recent years and it was probably time for both parties to explore new options. But then I remembered this is LRC where the most vicious and often cowardly attacks are generally found on coaching threads, for whatever reason, and so it would be pointless. Glad to see I wasn't mistaken.

She would be a good hire. I can see it.
You kidding me. There are head coaches with more success that will apply for this job. Not going to a good/very good assistant.
She would be horrible.

She could assist me any day!
This thread is further proof of the East Coast bias that the owners of this site allow. It's common knowledge that they have friends in the D-I coaching profession that have done much worse than this guy. Yes, worse than the rumors about Metcalf, bad enough that they mutually "moved on or parted ways" with their university. The threads about them were pulled or heavily edited so that they could stay in the business-and many times land another position that is even better!
Yet we see other coaches that they may not be drinking buddies with, get crucified and run out of the business because their reputation never recovers from what is allowed on this site. Try talking to high school coaches who suck up all this banter and innuendo as gospel truth, about their athletes. They won't give you the time of day. If you think I'm making this up, go see what has been allowed on the coaching threads from 2005ish and beyond. Buddies they party with at nationals get a pass, guys they don't know, or who coach at a school they deem unworthy or plebian, get destroyed. The bias is definitely regional in nature, which is funny because they are Texans. Note: YOU ARE NOT ONE OF THEM AND NEVER WILL BE, NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY.
Go ahead Rojo and Wejo, I dare you to deny it. Better yet, why don't you go back and take a look at Coaches you have helped run out of the business since the mid 2000's when these threads started popping up.
Doesn't matter anyway, you will just delete this thread as soon as it comes to your attention anyway. At least a few who are following this post will see it before it is gone.
doesn’t seem so mutual to me.

I see that someone started a blog with stories and quotes about Metcalf ... but not a single quote or story has been posted? This person was so brave to start a blog to include not a single example of why he was fired?

I'd say you have many difficult conversations judging by your attitude towards your athletes
You nailed it. They have their favorites and are so blind that Im not sure they even know it. This is why so many people that have a huge influence on our sport have left these boards.
I would wholeheartedly say that the East Coast bias comments are absolutely correct. The Johnson boys have friends who have been rocked by scandal and they have pulled those threads, but others who aren't their friends remain. Probably most of the posters on these threads don't know either brother. Go to the NCAA Cross Country Championship media day where athletes and coaches answer questions. Rojo always asks the same foolish question on foreign athletes trying to get everyone pissed off. But he has friends on the East coach who have lived off of foreign athletes for years, and they say nothing.
Whether people on this site want to believe it or not, what is said on these message boards does have an effect on future employment, especially for assistant coaches. I lived this and know all too well. Some idiot that had never coaches, and couldn't coach made up some crap about me that just wasn't true, but I had to answer questions about it for years.
My belief is that any thread about coaches should be carefully screened by the owners of this site. If someone has not had their contract renewed that is public information that should be shared. But to go the next step and allow someone to say that the coach was drunk at practice is another level that should not be allowed.
Since its inception I have asked coaches I know what they think about letsrun and I have never, ever got a positive reply. That should say it all. The Johnson boys should aspire to make their message board better.
Challenge to the Johnson boys..........take the challenge and make the message boards better!!!! Come on, you can do it.

there’s no reason UW should have a ... worse XC program than U of Portland.
I don't have info on this but simply want to simply remind people when someone loses their job it's difficult and I also want to correct some lazy arguments like the one above.
Areyou crazy? I don't know the scholarship situation but if one program is fully funded (I dont think UP is but whatever money they have goes to xc) and goes all in on xc and another program tries to do track and field and xc, I'd expect the team that was 100% xc to beat the track/xc program.
Plus the poster above is sexist as the UW women are way better than the UP women in xc.
Rojo are you real?... calling people sexist because you don't agree with them.... overreaction. It's not sexism it's a valid point the U P men placed way higher at nationals then the women of UW did, this strength offsets the failure of the U P women.
I don't think there is a coastal bias - the Harvard coach was crucified on here.

Try to keep up, and pay attention to the dynamics of what happens when a coach takes a new position, especially one on an opposite coast. The Harvard coachwas a West Coast guy who dared to go and take a position from those on the East who may have felt a coach from that side of the country deserved it more, for whatever reason. He may or may not have made mistakes, or done things in a way that people don't agree with. Either way, he WAS crucified and it was because he was not a "buddy" of the Brojos, who hailed from the West Coast originally. Most West Coast guys aren't! Hell, if you read what they write, they are not big fans of the SEC either, but have to accept their dominance because there isn't much they can do. However, they love it when scandal or something goes wrong at one of those schools. Their bias against Arkansas is well known, even though it hasn't been the same program since McDonnell retired almost 10 years ago! Their new favorite target is Oregon, and anything affiliated.
Anyway, it's nice to see others recognize what I have observed for years.
So who are coaches that they've protected .
You can't tell me to pay attention and also believe their distaste for Oregon is because of where it is located.
