Ya’ll realize that they are still verifying results for THIS YEAR, right? Until they finish up at the end of the week, they still don’t know what the cutoff is going to be/was for 2019. I’d guess they have a good idea, but if they have to throw out a bunch of results it could push things a few seconds.
IIRC, they have actually always announced the qualifying window and registration date for the successive year before they’ve announced the qualifying standards for the race. And based on their social media posts and press releases (“limited number of applicants from week 2”) they are signaling pretty strongly that there will be an adjustment for 2020, which I would expect will get announced at the same time that they complete verification for this year.
I’m on board with the folks who are saying a 5-minute bump across the board. They seem to have been very happy with the way that their registrations are working, all they need to do is tighten things to keep people from being outraged that you have to exceed the standard by >5 minutes. I don’t see any reason why they would do a bigger overhaul than that.
