The boy is 15. At least allow him his age of innocence before you get your own rocks off.
1:47 at any age is damn good.

Yep. Fantastic for a 15 year old. A great talent. He's very close to the best 800m runners the UK has to offer at the moment. He looks like he's got a lot of growing and strength in him too - he can pretty much only improve from here. Unlike the girls, the boys do seem to get much better as they get older.
Good news for the UK finally.. Maybe we'll have someone to follow in the Cram/Coe/Ovett footsteps. Cram is a good coach I hear, so maybe he should look him up?!
His Granddad is a superb coach. Old school.

Yes, I remember reading an interview with his Grandad after he broke the u15 world record, and he said that Brits had forgotten the routines of Coe, Cram, Ovett, and that he was going back to them for the training of Max.

Good to hear. He's in good hands then. I do remember [correct me if I'm wrong] hearing that there was a bit of a Percy Cerutty influence on Ovett's training ('pain is the great purifier' etc etc + lots of extremely hard and punishing sand dune workouts..vomit and keep going sort of thing..).
Here's to the young man and his talent though. I shall watch with great interest, as - no doubt - will all those former greats.
The age cheating in GB has clearly gotten out of control! :-(
Max Burgin won the European U18 Championship 800m gold in a new Championship record, new U18 world lead and new age 16 world record of 1:47:36. Running alone, way ahead of the field Max, who has just turned 16, came home 20 m clear of second place. Pretty sure it will appear on line soon.

Wow! Great news. Congratulations to Max and all his team! Hope he continues to progress.
Here's the TV coverage. The 800m race is at 1 hour 54 mins 30 secs in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VduCmlh_UWA&t=7111s
17 year old Ingebrigsten would wipe the floor with Centro and 16 year old Max Burgin would do the same with Murphy. European running future looks bright!
Murphy has a 1:42 PR and he has run 1:44 this year.

I see you saying nothing about Centro and his olympic gold medal though?
Murphy is in consistant 1:46 shape this season and Burgin ran 1:47 solo looking amazing an relaxed too. Watch the video, you will see what I'm talking about. If Burgin enters a pro race, he would get Murphy and many others a that too. The kid got a great stride and a great motor.
If not this year, then next one for sure.

Well yeah. I'm talking about the present / future right now. Find it ironic, that european teenagers are stronger or as strong as USA olympic medalists at the moment. Burgins stride reminds me a lot of Murphys stride, when he was really good. Get a feeling, that Ingebrigtsen and Burgins gonna be the key players at the 2020 olympic games.

Why on earth do you think Max Burgin would beat Clayton Murphy right now?
Please tell me your thoughts processes and how you came to that conclusion.
For the record, Murphy ran 1:44 this year and the weekend just gone he won an elite race in London running 1:46.5 with a 54.5s first lap.
Second place was Adam Kzszot, multiple time European champion indoor and outdoor, world bronze medalist, 1:43.3 PB.
Third was Eliot Giles, twice UK champion, European bronze medallist plus 1:44 PB.
Perhaps if you know something we don't, and presumably neither Max himself nor Max's coach knows, you should tell them. Because Max Burgin didn't run the British champs and presumably you think he could have won the European senior championships this year.
I also get excited to see young talent blossoming, but the hype is too much. Of course Max is not ready yet to take on elite 800m specialists. Why should he be? Let him develop, he's only 16.
From a British perspective I'd rather he runs 1:47 for the next 5 years and then comes through as a senior to run 1:42 at 22 and be a real medal threat, rather than watch him run 1:45 next year then crash and burn as a senior.
Predictions are fun but assertions about the future are silly. The US isn’t going away. Hoey ran 1:47 in HS this year. Miller ran 1:49 at 15 years old. Murphy got injured last year but looks poised to get to 1:43 this year. Kids will always run relatively fast. All that really matters is who is on top, not on top of an age group. Slagowski broke 4 in HS but hasn’t run that fast since. Who knows about anyone’s future? Ingrebretsen is already world class and appears to be a 3:30 guy. But 1:47 is not world class.
Just a feeling, looking at the running form and determination. Centro also has a better PB and SB than Ingebrigtsen, but got beat. Kinda feels, that the same would happen if Murphy and Burgins would be put in the same race. Also Burgins gives me the same vibe as Ingebrigtsen, the stuff champions are made of. Something I once saw in Murphy, but don't see anymore, a running motor of some kind.
I think Burgins will run 1:45, maybe even 1:44 next year and gonna only improve from there in 2020.
