Maybe but the girl from NM is not going to be beaten and there are a handful of great 10,000 times this spring. My guess is she'll be lucky to make AA.
How many seasons does this girl have left? This is like her 3rd senior yr?
I'm going with the freshman from Louisville. I said this a month ago. She destroyed Rohr this weekend for 10,000.

Wright can win it if she pushes the pace from far out, but she can’t really change gears from what I’ve seen. Wright also got beaten by Schweizer over 10k by 15 seconds at Stanford, but I’m not sure if she’s looking at that for NCAAs in addition to the 5k.
Missed that! You’re correct, this girl crushed! She should be the favorite. Finn doesn’t have a prayer. Add she’s racing again tonight! Seriously who coaches her?

What do you think she'll be racing tonight?? The steeplechase or 800? The 5k is tomorrow so she'll have an additional day of rest. she'll be fine. It's hot, she just needs fluids and a day out of the sun.

...why? just, why? There's no need to go out anywhere close to that pace.
Well you see it was her first 10k and there's this little thing called the NCAA Regional she wanted to make sure she qualified for.
34:xx would be plenty safe for regionals smart one. 15:52 is suicidal pace
That’s right, staggering from heat exhaustion the extra 15 hrs will make all the difference.
Guys, this thread is not about anyone crushing the next runner. Finn is doing better now and we should all be thankful.
And,, Borchers just won the steeple with Sarah Zieve 3rd !
GO BLUE!

Sorry, the correct terminology here is, "YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!"

But she could have run an even paced 34+ minute 10k, won comfortably, and still guaranteed herself a spot at regionals without going so deep into the well and still possibly come back to run the 5k. 35:25 is 64th for West right now. 35:11 was 64th last year, 35:16 in 2016. This is not the right way to run a 10k.
34 would not have won — results are above. She wanted to win. I agree with the poster above. Bold stuff like this is why she is the subject of the thread and we are just talking about her. She knows she can run 31 high because she has done it, so going out in 15:52 is not crazy. Bold, yes. Necessary to win, probably not. The kid takes no prisoners.
I fail to understand why everyone is making such a big deal over the way Finn looked at the end of her race. I mean, seriously, watch ANY women's distance race and you will see the same thing every...single...time. The flailing, the stumbling, and the "falling-down-and-sprawled-on-the-track-as-if-shot" climactic ending. The overly dramatic theatrics of women's distance races is the same...every...single...time. Yawn.

PRE LIVES
I say that she wins the NCAA 10000 this year and again next year.

I am so tired of her game. Although she is tough as nails, she has only one strategy.
Go out hard.
This is why she will never be a good marathoner. The marathon is a game of patience and she simply has none.
Has she said she wants to be a good marathoner or are you just assuming this
Yes she will be a good marathoner but she needs to finish her 5th and 6th year of elgibility first. YES SHE WILL BE RUNNING A 6TH YEAR. I'm assuming she signs with Nike and trains with BTC when done at Michigan.
A 6th year ? How do you figure?
