Chmiel going backwards from 2017??
Chmiel going backwards from 2017??
What are you talking about?? She has always been a great runner and she increased workouts and mileage a lot. Her coach has been taking it “easy” on her from 7th-9th grade because she was so young.

Lesson to HS girl distance runners: head to Providence!
Huddle went to ND didn't she?

Indeed, she did, but her current coach, Ray Treacy, is the head coach for Providence. Not saying I agree, but this is likely the explanation.

Molly was one of the top HS prospects but stagnated at ND. Under Ray she has blossomed into a true world class runner. If Tuohy goes pro next year she would be a great match.

Tuohy will not go pro next year. Chances are she will go to an Ivy League or top academic school.
On Friday she took the AP US History test (so sat 3+ hours doing that) then jumped in a car and drove 3+ hours to get to White Plains so not the best set up for a race. She will bounce back
3+ hours from Rockland to White Plains???

I think that's the best way of doing it, especially as a woman since it's easier for them to peak at a younger age. Have your running career in HS, then focus on school. I hope that she makes the Olympic team in 2020.

She coulda ran to white plains HS in 3 hours. But no, it’s not even close to a 3 hour drive. They’re about 25 miles apart.
He was responding to my post about Chmiel, not Tuohy.

Got it. Don’t think there’s anything to worry about with Chimel. 2nd at NXN and an indoor 1001 2mile and the only person this year to beat Tuohy and Claudia Lane.

Oops yea I was Chimel took the test then had the long drive. Sorry about that thought I had quoted the post
As Salazar briefly proved with Cain, these records have been as weak as they have only because coaches have held back on high mileage and hard workouts on their female high school athletes, so there is a lot of room for faster times in the distances. Yet, the high achievers have rarely done much later, so it clearly seems unwise to push them in high school while they are still growing and developing. Give them a solid base, work on their speed and physical strength, and let them rest properly to give them long healthy careers with a much higher ceiling as adults. The change in body type is a major hurdle to overcome and the injuries trying to stop it are not worth it.
Alexa finished 5th last year in a highly competitive 1500m race, less than 2 seconds from making the team as a 20 year old. If this list of women suck as they get older, a big portion is due to expectations and criticism. At around 22-24 the female body stabilizes, most elite US women are done running and never look back, because of critics.
I still believe Cain could do something.

Could you imagine how incredible it would be if this were true? I'm pretty sure men and women alike would rejoice, but this is fantasy.
